I was undeniably right. The humans were far more advanced than us. In the short span of the time they've spent here, they've built a gigantic city made of all sorts of materials, from really hard metal to heavy "man-made" stones. They destroyed so much of our hard work and devastated much of our seas. They're trying to do something called "terraforming" to kill everything here, including us, and change the entirety of our precious Aquain. My job is to protect the life of Aquain as the queen, but it's so difficult to do that when you're being overpowered by a goddamn alien race with technology so powerful you never would have even imagined its existence!
Why even target us? Our planets are so drastically different! I've learned about them from spies living amongst them. Our children are just about the same size as them, so they change the color of their skin, wear "clothes", and sometimes even "wigs" to fit into their society and get information back to us. Putting their tentacles together and binding them to look like human legs, retracting the webbing in their hands to form human hands and arms, and rearranging the structure of their faces to appear more human. And finally, on top of all of that, they go to school to learn human language, anatomy, and culture to fit in. I mean I could do it, but I would be much too large to appear human. It feels so wrong to send out our children to do this, but it's truly our only hope at learning about what these humans really are and what they really want.
Through our spies, we have learned about Earth and human history, Earth geography, Earth biology, and Earth structure. Surprisingly, humans are very intelligent for a species that lives such a short life, and they have figured out countless secrets of how the universe works. Like much of chemistry, and physics that could not be previously explored due to us living underwater. Especially concepts like electricity and aerodynamics. However, we are far more advanced in biology than humans are. Our powers of cross-species communication are exceptional, as well as our understanding of the structures and purposes of billions of species across Aquain and the species that humans introduced to Aquain. And because humans introduced new species into the Aquarian seas, we have again gained a better understanding of Earth life as well as our own powers to control other species.
In order to control an organism, it has to have been born within the Aquarian seas. Which we did not know until they introduced animals like groupers and tuna, which are commercially farmed for food by humans. When first introduced the creatures cannot be controlled because they do not share the "Symphonic gene" which all Aquarian creatures are born with. But when they reproduce a bacteria found all across the Aquarian sea which infects any non-Aquarian organism and gives its offspring the "Symphonic gene". After receiving that all offspring born will have the "Symphonic gene" and will be able to be controlled by a Lymurian. The bacteria isn't airborne though, so it hasn't been able to affect humans. Since they've found this out, they have been very careful to filtrate water and keep any of the bacteria out.
But ever since the humans found out about the bacteria they've been trying to figure out the secrets of our powers. However, not even we fully understand the complexities of our powers, so it is very unlikely that they would if we don't yet. They've never succeeded in capturing one of us, so they've never had a chance to analyze our DNA or bodily structures. Lucky we've had their bone structures and a three-dimensional representation of them with that girl who crashed here thousands of years ago, otherwise, we would have been wiped out.
The truth is that I'm deathly afraid for the future and what it holds. Will my successors and I be able to protect our world from the incoming humans? It's a question I keep asking myself, a reason I can't sleep when the algae stops glowing. But I'm especially worried for the children that risk their lives by infiltrating the human colony. One slip up and our existence could be erased. They would find our secrets, and eradicate us, exterminate us like Groams in a field of Thyilimynes. But I absolutely cannot let that happen. My people will not be destroyed for we have hope, power, and knowledge. And I am confident in our ability to fight off this blight of humanity, but doing so would cause a great deal of casualties to our already dwindling numbers. So we've put another plan into action.
My son, Lymur, Quixinalia, the Lymurian Prince, has been sent off on an important diplomatic mission to attempt to achieve peace between humans and Lymurians. He should have already entered their colony by now. The mission is to trade them the reason we know so much about them, the girl trapped in ice, for peace. I figured they may want her to study, she isn't like the rest of the humans we've encountered. Her hair is white, she's been trapped in ice for thousands of years beyond a normal human lifetime, regardless of how much ice we melt it just keeps growing, and she even has a metal arm. A great number of anomalies lie within this girl that can be unlocked by humans. I know it sounds like a stretch asking for peace for this, but it will certainly peak their scientific interests.
The plan was for Lymur to enter their colony via an airlock for taxi-subs and go into the "defense" tower to meet with officials. Of course, it would reveal our secret that we can appear human, but some sacrifices are required for ultimate success. Then he would offer them the girl trapped in ice by showing them pictures taken using a waterproof human camera. If they accept, my plan will result in success and we'll finally be at peace. But I knew I had to be somewhat aggressive, as to not appear like a pushover, so Lymur was to give them only an hour to decide if they wanted to take the deal or not. I know that's not going to happen exactly as I plan, but it's the best thing I can hope for.
There was a whispered message I heard coming from nearby. A saddness filled my heart when I heard it. It was Lymur, but he was far, probably still in the colony.
"They've accepted," Lymur whispered.
"What's wrong?" I questioned.
"The way they treated it, it was like trash to them, as though they still wanted to attack and kill us. I could feel it, that my presence was so disgusted,"
"I... I don't know what to tell you, just come home safely, okay, you did a good job," I reassured.
I was prepared for the worst.
