Oliver sighed, leaning back in his seat to stare ahead once more.
"Three dead. Thought to be targeting females until the recent victim, who is a 17 year old model. Male."
"And the other victims?"
"A 16 year old female, model. And then a 20 year old female, actress. All of which are of Japanese descent."
"So three victims, all aged 16 to 20?"
"All are also feminine despite not all being female. The male in question was known to be androgynous. It was the main quality causing him to rise within the industry."
"His name?"
Oliver glanced back down at the folder, sliding it open to check once more before shutting it and resting his cheek back against the window, staring out at the street lights that rushed by them.
"Ren Sawaya." Oliver finally replied.
A moment of silence seemed to fill the car, Oliver biting at his bottom lip as he furrowed his brows in thought.
"Whats the matter?" Hiroki asked, taking notice.
Oliver glanced down at his lap, expression unchanged as he thought of a proper reply.
"It's just, up to this point, all of the corpses have been found mummified, eyes missing as well as their teeth. Due to previous victims being found weeks later after their disappearance, it seemed to make sense but now..."
There was a pause as Hiroki stopped at a red light, glancing over.
"Now what?"
Oliver sighed, shutting his eyes as he rested a thumb against his chin. He was fully interested in the case at this point.
"Well, the body was found the same night of the murder, no missing case being developed on Ren. And still, the body is completely mummified. On top of that, the victim's best friend and colleague is a witness."
This puzzled Hiroki as well, causing him to reach over and snatch the file from Oliver's lap so he could look through it himself. Oliver didn't protest, his mind fully invested in the case still, trying to find any possible answer to the odd phenomena.
Hiroki furrowed his brows as he looked through Ren's case specifically, taking his time as he would occasionally glance up to see if the streetlight had turned green.
"Well, if we have a witness, that should mean we will have some answers, yeah?" Hiroki asked.
Oliver shook his head.
"I wouldn't count on it. Officers told me before we left that Ren's friend is schizophrenic and she's been difficult to get answers from due to her mental health."
Hiroki had glanced over in slight disbelief. That response gave him all the answers he needed to conclude that this case was going to be a son of a bitch to solve.
"Green light." Oliver suddenly mused, his eyes having suddenly been opened and staring ahead.
Hiroki looked ahead quickly and gripped the steering wheel once more, being quick to speed ahead just a little too much for Olivers liking, causing the younger boy to roll his eyes in annoyance due to the others lack of concentration.
The car ride there had been pretty silent from that point. Both men had been lost in their own thoughts about the strange case and it was the first time both parties had no idea how they were going to approach the crime scene nor the witnesses. It left both detectives uneasy.
Noticing this unease, Hiroki decided to change the subject, wishing to tease Oliver for a bit.
"You know, you are pretty cute when you're all angry and jealous."
Oliver had been in the midst of rolling down Hiroki's window to toss his cigarette, gritting his teeth at the man's words.
He flicked his cigarette out the window, cheek resting against his knuckles.
"And you are completely unattractive when you piss me off." He simply replied.
Hiroki gave a hearty laugh as he turned onto the street in which officers were dispatched. Flickers of blue and red lights cascaded the detectives bodies as yellow tape could be seen in the distance, connecting to the entrance of a dim alley. Along with officers were news trucks and reporters eagerly trying to pursue the entrance only to be held back by a dozen officers on the scene.
Hiroki parked at the end of the block to give the two some space between the commotion. He turned to Oliver, a grin on his lips.
"Well just remember, no girl will stop me from pursuing you. And no matter how unattractive you find me, it wont stop me from wanting you." He teased.
This caused a faint blush to spread over Oliver's cheeks as he glared up at Hiroki. It had been in that moment that the larger detective leaned in to give the other a gentle peck on the lips, his arm resting over the glove compartment to corner the other male.
But alas, Oliver was quick to stop his partner, pressing a hand over the man's face.
"Well, piss me off less and I'll let you show me how much you admire me." Oliver responded flatly before using his other hand to open the door and slide out of the car.
Hiroki pouted at this, a soft whine escaping him. "I thought I was supposed to be the tease..."
