The Tale of Humans

The Tale of Humans

Sep 13, 2019

Before human beings littered the Earth, only Gods and Goddesses wandered on the desolate planet, two of them being Evadne and Iapetos. Evadne was a being of good and brought prosperity wherever she went, whilst Iapetos was spiteful and evil, resenting Evadne for being the way she was.

“She brings joy where she goes,” He cried out as he walked, watching from afar. “It just doesn’t make sense, why can’t I be that way?”

“Well,” A new voice mused, making Iapetos turn on his heel. The Goddess Tyche stood before him, her arms wrapped in her gown. “It’s because you’re the evil one, and she is good. A hero, a champion, a woman of honour. But I could help,” She continued with a smirk. Iapetos raised his brow, now curious.

From far above, the wise God Agaue watched and listened to their evil plan against the good goddess Evadne.

“What is done must be done, I suppose.” He murmured to himself, stroking his beard and sighing. “This way, maybe, I can see if Earth is ready…”

Evadne was still walking, humming and smiling. She knew nothing of the plan in store for her.

“Evadne, Evadne!” Tyche cried out to her, falling to her knees and shaking with fright.

“What is it Tyche?” She inquired, kneeling down, pulling Tyche close, and stroking her hair.

“Iapetos is causing trouble in the South. You must help!!” Tyche covered her face with her gown and pretended to sob as Evadne stood, drawing a sabre from her belt.

“If he is causing trouble, I must go and stop him.” And with those words, she leapt into the sky and ran on the clouds, South to Iapetos.

~~~~~~~~
“Iapetos?” Evadne yelled, glancing around her surroundings, dust kicked up in the air, making it hard to see. She gripped the sabre tight. Hot breath fanning her ear, and she stood deathly still.
“Evadne,” He uttered, a Zweihänder sword in hand. He plunged it through her chest, twisting it as well.
Now Evadne was dead, and evil prevailed.
Or so it seemed.
Agaue came from the heavens, in front of Iapetos, shaking his head.
“You have shown me you can no longer be trusted here on Earth. You are to come back to the heavens and be banished, this world is no longer yours…”
So Agaue put humans on the Earth, in the hope their good would out-do the evil that Iapetos had left in the soil, from the tainted blood that was spilt by the blade of his sword.
