Searing pain was the only thing Zaltrius could think about as ropes soaked in holy water dug into his flesh. If it wasn't bad enough to be restrained in such a cruel way Zaltrius was being held in a church rendering his demonic powers useless. Muffled voices sound from outside the closed door but Zaltrius' pain was so intense he couldn't focus on what they were saying. The one noise that Zaltrius could hear however was the creaking groan of the door as it's rusty hinges were forced to move. "It's in here." a man Zaltrius could only guess to be a priest says in a shaking voice. Zaltrius opens his eyes, which were glowing bright yellow, to look at the two men in the room with him. Zaltrius shivers as the two men walk closer to him. "I've never seen a demon like this." the taller man with white hair and forest green eyes says as he examines Zaltrius' body. "What!? Does that mean we don't know anything about it!?" the priest demands sounding scared. "I'm afraid not. The energy it is giving out is something I've never even seen." the man says as he examines Zaltrius' face closer. "I need to study it." the man says as he backs away. "How?" the priest asks. "I can use magic to bind him to me." the man says. "As long as you can stay safe." the priest says looking uncertain. "Don't worry little brother." the man says softly. "Fine. I must return to my prayers. God bless you brother." the priest says before he walks out of the room and closes the door softly behind him. The man walks closer to Zaltrius and pulls a knife out making Zaltrius flinch with a terrified expression. "Sh. Don't worry I won't hurt you." the man says gently. The man begins to cut the ropes and gasps as he sees the burns left behind by the ropes. "Are you okay?" the man asks. Zaltrius looks away unwilling to speak as he runs his hands through his messy midnight black hair. "I guess it makes sense you don't want to talk to me. Anyways can you stand? You just have to nod." the man says. Zaltrius looks back at him and nods quickly. "Alright come on..."
A few hours later...
"You can stay here with me while I find out what you are." the man says as he leads Zaltrius into a nice looking living room. "Will you at least tell me your name?" the man asks. "Zaltrius..." Zaltrius mutters. "Uh... I have no idea how to say that..." the man says looking nervous. "Just call me Zal," Zaltrius says sounding annoyed. "I'm Cyprus but you can call me Cy," Cyprus says nervously. "Why am I here?" Zaltrius asks his eyes turning sky blue. "Wait... Are your eyes changing colors?" Cyprus asks looking shocked. "They change color with my emotions," Zaltrius mutters. "I've never seen a demon like that. So what does light blue mean?" Cyprus asks as he leads Zaltrius to the couch. "It means I'm calm or relaxed," Zaltrius says as he sits down on the comfortable leather couch. "Then what does yellow mean?" Cyprus asks as he sits down beside Zaltrius. "It means I'm either in pain or just scared," Zaltrius says averting his gaze. "I'm sorry you were tied up like that," Cyprus says guiltily. "What?" Zaltrius asks his eyes turning lavender. "I apologized because you were in pain," Cyprus says. "Thank you," Zaltrius says his eyes turning bright green. "So can I ask you what green and purple mean?" Cyprus asks carefully. "Purple means I'm curious and green means I'm happy," Zaltrius says. "I'm glad you're happy," Cyprus says still nervous. Cyprus' phone rings from his pocket and he takes it out and answers "Hello? Yes, ma'am. What kind of problem? No. I'll be there right away." Cyprus says before he hangs up. "What's wrong?" Zaltrius asks his eyes tuning a mixture of purple and grey. "I have a job to do," Cyprus says as he gets up and begins gathering his gear. "Does that mean I'm allowed to leave?" Zaltrius asks looking a little hopeful. "I'm sorry but I can't let you go..." Cyprus says sounding genuine. "Oh..." Zaltrius says his eyes turning stormy grey. "Why don't you come with me?" Cyprus offers trying to make Zaltrius happy. "I guess..." Zaltrius says as he gets up. "You need to put something clean on," Cyprus says as he gestures at Zaltrius' ragged clothes. "Alright," Zaltrius says before shadows form around him. As soon as the shadows disappear Zaltrius was wearing a leather jacket with a white undershirt and blue jeans. "Not bad," Zaltrius says as he looks himself over. "Alright let's go," Cyprus says.
A few hours later.
"Here we are," Cyprus says as he stops the car. "What happened here?" Zaltrius asks as he looks at the destroyed house. "Some sort of demonic animal," Cyprus says as he gets out of the car. "That can't be right," Zaltrius says as he looks at the wreckage. "How can it not be right? Someone saw the thing with their own eyes." Cyprus says. "That damage and aura can't be left by an animal," Zaltrius says as he touches one of the splintered trees his eyes a faint yellow. "I don't feel an aura," Cyprus says looking confused as he walks up to Zaltrius. "It's really strong so I don't know why you wouldn't," Zaltrius says absentmindedly. "Do you recognize it?" Cyprus asks carefully. "No," Zaltrius says looking defeated as his eyes turn stormy grey. "I'll take samples and then we can go back," Cyprus says as he gets a knife and some bags out. "I'll wait in the car," Zaltrius says as he walks back to Cyprus' car. "Right..."
30 minutes later...
"Alright, I'm..." Cyprus says before he cuts himself off as his eyes fall on Zaltrius while he was curled up and sleeping. "I'll be quiet then..." Cyprus whispers as he starts the car.
A few hours later...
As Cyprus pulled into his apartment complex's driveway Zaltrius jolts awake his eyes turning bright yellow. "What's wrong?" Cyprus asks concerned. "N-nothing," Zaltrius says quickly as he looks away. "Are you sure?" Cyprus asks. "Yes," Zaltrius says dismissively. "Alright let's go inside," Cyprus says as he gets out of the car. "Yeah..." Zaltrius mutters as he follows Cyprus into his apartment. "You can sleep in my bed with me," Cyprus says. "What?" Zaltrius asks his cheeks turning red. "The couch isn't big enough for either of us to sleep on so we can both sleep in my bed," Cyprus says. "O-okay..." Zaltrius mutters. "You can change into something more comfortable," Cyprus says. "As long as you don't judge it..." Zaltrius says. "I won't I swear," Cyprus says kindly. "Okay," Zaltrius says sounding uncertain as shadows form around him again. As soon as the shadows disappear Zaltrius' clothes change to a clear grey shirt with a sliver spiderweb design and black tights. "I can see why you would expect me to judge you..." Cyrus says nervously. "I-I'll change it if you want," Zaltrius says quickly. "If it's comfortable for you don't have to change," Cyprus says. "Th-thank you..." Zaltrius says his eyes turning green. "Are you tired?" Cyprus asks. "I guess," Zaltrius says with a shrug. "Alright, I'll show you my room," Cyprus says as he begins leading Zaltrius to his bedroom. "Thanks," Zaltrius says as Cyprus opens the bedroom door for him. "I'm not tired right now so I won't be joining you yet," Cyprus says as he watches Zaltrius lie down on the bed. "Okay. Goodnight." Zaltrius says. "Night," Cyprus says before he gently closes the door. Zaltrius buries his face in one of Cyprus' pillows and closes his eyes.
In the morning...
Zaltrius opens his eyes and looks around the room as he stretches and yawns. Zaltrius gets out of bed and walks to the living room. "Morning," Cyprus says as he looks at Zaltrius. "Good morning," Zaltrius says politely. "Do you want some breakfast?" Cyprus asks as he stands up. "Sure," Zaltrius says with a shrug. "Sit down I'll get you something," Cyprus says as he starts walking to the kitchen. "Thank you," Zaltrius says as he sits on the couch. "Of course," Cyprus says before he begins cooking. "What do you usually eat?" Cyprus calls from the kitchen. "I don't know... a lot of meat I guess," Zaltrius says with a shrug. "Alright. You can tell me if you like this after you try it." Cyprus says as he gets some different meats out of the fridge. "Can I ask you something?" Zaltrius asks a little timidly. "Of course," Cyprus says. "Why are you so worried about my comfort and well being?" Zaltrius asks. "What do you mean?" Cyprus asks. "Well you let me wear what I wanted even though it looked like it made you uncomfortable, you let me sleep in your bed, and you're making me breakfast," Zaltrius says. "Well, it's because the aura you're letting out isn't exactly evil," Cyprus says as he brings out a breakfast plate. "What do you mean?" Zaltrius asks. "When I first felt your aura I knew you were different than any other demon I've ever encountered," Cyprus says. "Really?" Zaltrius asks his eyes turning deep violet. "Yes now eat up," Cyprus says kindly. "Alright," Zaltrius says.
An hour later...
Zaltrius stretched out on the couch after Cyprus went to use the restroom. "Seriously?" Cyprus asks when he comes out of the restroom. "Yep," Zaltrius says as he crosses his arms over his chest. "At least lift your feet for a second and let me sit down," Cyprus says. "Fine." Zaltrius huffs as he lifts his feet. "Thank you," Cyprus says as he sits down. "Sure." Zaltrius sighs as he puts his feet down on Cyprus' lap. "This isn't weird for you?" Cyprus asks. "Not at all. Why?" Zaltrius asks. "I don't know just want to make sure you're comfortable," Cyprus says as he crosses his hands behind his head. "Okay." Zaltrius says before he begins watching T.V. "Anything interesting happen?" Cyprus asks as he turns his attention to the show. "No just normal stuff," Zaltrius says. Before Cyprus can reply to his phone rings he picks it up and answers. "Hello? Yes, sir. What!? I-I'll be there right away!" Cyprus says before he hangs up. "What's wrong?" Zaltrius asks as he moves his feet off of Cyprus' lap. "Another call. This time there were fatalities." Cyprus says as he stands up and begins gathering his equipment. "Do you want me to come?" Zaltrius asks timidly. "Sure..."
A long drive later...
"We're here," Cyprus says grimly. "Damn," Zaltrius says under his breath as he looks at the smoking wreckage. "Yeah. And this energy is... pure evil." Cyprus says. "I've felt this energy before..."
