Even as the cook was standing outside. “There is some things you should do, at least for the preparation tonight.” She stood up, remembering the extra hours of work and also what she gained in terms of cash at the end of the day. It also kept her more busy than before. Since preparation often started early and it was mostly an effort to stock up for the night. Where the tables would be at their fullest.”
And it was easier, since it took her mind off so many things. And kept her inside without thinking about going out, then facing all of it. She was able to start going to markets recently, just that she threw a scarf over her head to go out then and there. And she only been gossiped about by three people.
Which she considered a bonus point right now at the very least by any means. Since she could roam around free without any real considerations right now at the very least. Or when they could have considered it no more or less than they could have tried right now. Or when it was best for them to really consider it as well. It was something she would have get used to it then and there as well.
Before heading inside, to prepare the desserts since they were making something warm for the night. And she needed to boil all of it then and there.
“You wouldn’t need to think about it now, you have days to think about it. And I can tell you some ways to go around.”
Even in a sort of way, she was the person she was looking for a mentor either way. She wanted someone who has done it before if at all, or when they could have at this point. Or when they could have considered or wanted it right now at the end of the day as well. Before she mostly focused on it, and watching the stove as it boiled.
Once she was done, she placed it on the top and then let it cool. So that it could be kept and the heat would remain. Although she usually didn’t, but desserts could and this would be the first pot for the night. Which would last them for a long while. And would only turn cold if it was not kept well at the very least.
While thinking about it as well, and how fast she could finish. It would boil for the better part of an hour and someone needed to watch it to ensure that it did not burn, and keep on stirring. Thus assuring that she needed to focus as much as possible. Since their dinner started early, and of course meant that dessert was needed. As well as a main course.
Once it was so, and she was done when they were now here at the very least. And then to the next, once she closed it. The night would be busy and that was why she was paid more this time around, and also having fewer tips. But it kept her away from all the eyes then and there at the very least and allowed her to really focus on it then and there right then.
And she could see why, since the labor was so much more tiring. But this was cash she also needed now that her life was now nowhere, and she wanted it to be. She wanted to travel, that was a dream that she now truly wanted above all else. She wanted it to be within her own grasp, and this was simply a path. A way for her to feel as though she earned it.
And without much thinking the night began in a short amount of time. She was busy cooking, chopping as well as stirring. Then once she was done, she poured them into bowls and then place them on the counter for them to bring. And then also hiring another, this time around it was a man who wanted it. Choosing to come inside then and there, where they relegated all the chopping to them while all the children were asked to wash dishes.
Right after they filtered it for the knives. Which didn’t matter anyway, since they were not going to wash it until the end. And then simply ensured that they never allowed her to even think about then and there anyway. As the knives were never the same, with one used for vegetables and the other used for meat. And then washing it once the night was up.
They often closed well before the last order, mostly based on the orders from up there or checking themselves. Usually by her, and Chaoyun also spent time asking around and learning about what was the reasons behind the decisions. But right now, until she gave the word they simply chopped to no end.
And the boy seemed to have no hesitation, be it whether it was butchering animals, and removing their intestines or cutting the uneatable parts of vegetables. She did so, and learned how to do it because it was needed. In a way, retreating her had taught her a lot more. And she figured that it could be useful to really think about it then and there anyway.
But she didn’t pay much attention, but saw how skillful he was and then serving up all of them. Once they were done for the night, and she poured the last bowl of it and placed it onto the counter did she had the chance to. “Where did you come from?”
“A butcher and then my father hoped to never have me do what he does, since it just breeds bad karma. So I asked to become a cook. The pay was good and I was going to be chopping and learning how to cook. But I’m just dealing with dead animals.”
“Did you raise them?”
“We often go to farmers and then of course ask for the animals. Then we kill them and then cut them up to be sold, usually earning quite a lot. We also have cases where we just kill them and then sell them, the former we would charge more per piece of meat but the latter is usually cheaper.”
“Since you would have to do the work yourself.” She was right then and there if there was a chance for them anyway.
“Are you here because you want to?”
“In a way, it’s the first step. I earn more cash from this which can help me get to my dream of opening up my first clothing store or a funeral parlor. Since I loved to sew and I just want to make it official.” In a way, that meant that he was here because of his own dreams.
And in a way, she did want to ask or perhaps she should go around to ask this question then and there. Since there was never a better place to be when they could and for her to ask such a personal question. And she needed it to ask it and figure out what she would want to pay for her dream.
