"Wrong one..."
Comet screamed in frustration when the mere copy disappeared in a shower of water particles. He looked around the area once more, ignoring the similar frustrated shouts from his brothers. He caught several glimpses of bright blonde hair and his mind reeled at the possibilities of which one is the real one.
He absolutely hated this. He hated how she could confuse him with her mind games. He hated the fact that she could even confuse him. He wasn't one for confusion, he always knew what happened around him. Comet scowled when he noticed another clump of blonde hair pass through the many gaps in between buildings.
He was about to shoot forward and grab one of the copies in a wild guess when a hard body slammed against him. His breath was knocked out of him and he twisted around to avoid damage on his body. When they both slammed to the wall, Comet pushed his groaning brother, Tempest, off of him.
"Dude..." Tempest hissed out as he rubbed his head.
"What was that?" Comet scowled and dusted himself off.
"That was-"
Tempest was cut off when another body slammed into him. The two fell to the ground and Comet narrowed his eyes at his brothers. With crossed arms, he regarded the two, "This is our first villain and this is your performance?"
"Oh shut up, Mr. Perfect." Berserk mocked him as he stood up. "You aren't doing any better."
"I was-"
"At least we were fending off those copies." Tempest snorted. He looked up at the sky and noticed the sudden absence of the copies. "Where did they all go?"
"Wait, what?" Berserk looked up and noticed the empty sky. "They're gone."
"What?" Comet hissed. He looked around frantically and noticed the stillness of their surroundings. He held up a hand and silenced his brothers. He waited and took a deep breath. "Tempest, area check."
"Roger." Said boy rolled his amber eyes. He focused on the water particles around the area and concentrated on the filled areas. With a groan, he turned back to his brothers. "Nothing."
"Shit..." Berserk breathed out.
When they returned home, Piper and Lila were lounging on the couch. Tim raised an eyebrow as he took off the black mask, "When did you two get here?"
"After our shopping." Lila shrugged and played with the remote. "What's up with you three being in costume?"
"Something happened." Will huffed and ran a hand through his ruffled hair.
"Oh? Then why do you three look so somber?" Piper joked with an easy smile. When she was met with silence, the smile slipped from her face and she turned to look at Lila.
"It's nothing." Leo scowled and stomped up the stairs.
Lila frowned and turned to look at her two brothers, "I don't think it's nothing."
"He's just miffed." Tim sighed and watched as Will threw his mask to the side and walk up the stairs, "So is Will."
"A bad run-in?" Piper guessed.
"Worse." Tim ran a hand through his hair. "Some new unnamed villain."
"Oh?" Lila and Piper shared a glance. Lila leaned forward and tilted her head, "What happened?"
"Nothing," Leo repeated as he descended the stairs in casual clothing. "I'm heading out."
"Where?" Tim raised an eyebrow challengingly.
Leo sent him a glare and stuffed his hands into his jacket pocket, "Somewhere away from here."
"What's up with you two again?" Lila groaned, "It extended from two days ago. When will you two just kiss and make-up?"
"Ew," Tim pulled a face as he walked past the two, "That's Harriet's job."
The conversation ended when Tim walked up the stairs and the two girls remained on the couch. They turned up the television's volume before they turned to look at each other.
Internally, Lila was panicking. How could she not? Her brothers' relationship together was already strained as it was and she didn't know if she made it worse. She stuffed her head into her hands and groaned loudly. Piper placed a hand on her friend's shoulder and let out a sigh. She didn't know how to feel about the whole thing but she knew a tinge of guilt coiled itself around her conscience.
"I made everything worse..." Lila moaned out as she slumped on the seat.
"I- I don't really know what to say other than we can only move forward." Piper shrugged. "It's starting to get complicated."
"We totally didn't account for the emotional whiplash it'll give." Lila continued to sulk.
"Lila..." Piper puffed out her cheeks, "We don't know that. It is their first time dealing with an actual villain."
"Why should that matter?"
"It matters because they're used to putting criminals behind bars. They're used to dealing with petty crime and mortals. Mortals with no powers."
"So?"
"Okay, Lila out of the sulking corner right now." Piper scowled at her friend and pulled her up.
The two stood by the couch and stared into each others' eyes. Piper closed hers and let out a sigh. She tightened her grip while Lila stared at the television.
"I know you're right, Piper." Lila sighed, "Really, I do. I just- I worry."
"You're such a worry-wart." Piper responded, "You said it yourself many times over. You're not your brothers' secretary, babysitter and assistant. You don't have to worry about them too much."
"Then that makes me a bad sister!"
"My gosh, do you literally have no experience with siblings despite having them?" Piper deadpanned.
Lila let out a bitter laugh, "I might as well be an only child. They're barely with me and during the times they are... they're more like friends than brothers."
"And you worry over your friends."
"Exactly."
"Those three don't deserve you." Piper shook her head. "Listen, let loose. Have fun. For once in your life, don't worry about their feelings and relationships."
"What?"
Piper gave a wry smile as she shrugged, "To each their own, I guess."
Lila blinked and thought about it. She stared off into space and closed herself into her thoughts. She never really felt the sibling relationship that everyone else seemed to describe. She never really experienced anything related to it because of her brothers' duties. It was all too confusing. She tried so hard to fit but maybe that was her mistake.
"Piper..."
"Yes?"
"Am I... Do I feel too perfect?"
"No, but you have that habit of trying to be."
That hit Lila. She tried too hard. Way too hard to be the perfect sister. Overprotective, check. Sassy, check. Laid-back, check. Worry-wart, check.
"Lila?"
She groaned and fell back to the awaiting couch. She heard a snort and peaked out of her fingers to glare at Piper, "Shut up."
"I didn't say anything."
Lila went to retort when the response died on her lips. Maybe Piper was right. Maybe she really did need to relax and have fun. Piper sent a questioning look when she grinned widely, "Maybe you're right."
"On what grounds?"
"That I'm trying too hard to be perfect."
Piper hummed and sat down beside her, "So, what are you going to do about it?"
"Well..." Lila gave her friend a mischievous look, "I'm going to cut the drama nad have fun."
Piper grinned back at the look she received, "Ooooh, you're finally pulling down those masks?"
"Indefinitely."
"Do you even know what that means?"
"I DO!"
"Sure, you do."
