"I hate school.." Lila muttered as she threw a pencil away from her.
"Everyone thinks the same, Lila." Piper blew out a stray strand of hair from her face.
"Yeah, well... they don't vocalize it as much."
"I'm sure they do."
"Oh shut up." Lila leaned back against her chair and stared at the blank paper before her. She huffed and crossed her arms, "I don't like this."
"Then maybe you shouldn't have gone with drafting." Piper retorted lazily as she made one controlled stroke with her pencil.
"I had no other choice..." Lila whined. "I'm shit at baking and I can't stand coding."
"You live and learn." Piper teased as she adjusted her paper.
"How are you doing this so effortlessly?"
"Because I'm not procrastinating?"
Lila groaned back in response. She laid her head on the table and watched her friend continue with the assignment. With a huff, she turned away and watched the front door. When it opened, she jumped in surprise and gave a small yelp. This startled Piper who was applying line art and drew out of the line.
She stared at the paper in exhaustion before she turned to glare at Lila, "What was-"
She cut herself off when she noticed Harriet who draped herself over Leo. She shut her mouth with a click and watched Lila with a calculated eye. Everything was silent before Leo led the redhead to the kitchen. When they were out of earshot, Lila sucked in a breath through clenched teeth.
"I hate this."
"You seem to hate everything today."
"Yeah, well everything also seems to hate me today too." Lila glared at the crumpled papers of failed attempts.
"So... do you wish to...?"
"Yes, please."
Piper laughed at her friend's pleading look. She tilted her head and smiled knowingly as she looked away. Lila grinned at their little signal before she stood up and dashed up the stairs. Piper coughed when Leo and Harriet walked in and hid her secret smile.
"Piper, where's Lila?" Leo turned to the girl.
She gave him a shrug and gathered her things along with Lila's, "She said she wanted to get something from her room."
"Where are you going?" Harriet raised an eyebrow when Piper stood up with the things in her arms.
Piper blinked at Harriet, "Ah, we were just finishing things up."
"So where are you headed?" Leo leaned against the couch as he stared at his sister's friend.
"I'm just going to keep our stuff and transfer them up to her room." Piper shrugged as she made her way to the stairs.
"Wait-"
Leo was cut off when the siren sounded. Harriet jumped with a shriek when the sudden noise struck. Leo cursed under his breath but when he turned to ask Piper for help, she was gone. He looked around frantically for the switch and when he found it, he used the little bit of power over the wind to turn the alarm off.
"What was that?" Harriet demanded when the lights stopped flaring red and the sound stopped.
"It was a prank probably." Leo put on an annoyed mask. "Will likes playing around when I'm busy."
"Oh, then-"
"I'm sorry to ask this of you but... can you wait here for a moment. I'll go talk to Will about it." Leo smiled nervously as he made his way up the stairs.
"Alright..." Harriet frowned as she watched her boyfriend walk up the stairs. She crossed her arms and let out a sigh. That was another bonding moment interrupted and gone. She pouted and leaned against the couch. Her phone vibrated and she glanced at it. When she saw who messaged her, she screamed out and slammed her phone against the couch. "Stupid, persistent, ass..."
A whole minute passed when her phone began ringing. Her blood crept up her neck as she shoved the phone closer to the mattress of the couch. Why can't the guy take a hint?
"Are you not going to answer that?" Piper tilted her head.
"Wha-Where did you come from?" Harriet hissed out as she hid her still ringing phone. Her face was flushed as she realized she didn't turn it off.
Piper raised an eyebrow at the action, "From upstairs?"
"Oh? So where is Leo?" Harriet huffed out when her phone finally stopped ringing.
"Last I saw him- He went into Will's room."
"Did you-"
There was a loud crash and the house shook for a moment. Harriet's eyes widened while Piper snorted. The red-haired teen jumped up and grabbed the younger girl's shoulders tightly. Piper blinked in surprise when she met the wide and terrified eyes of Harriet.
"What- Are you okay?" Piper looked at the girl weirdly.
"What was that?"
"It's probably no-"
The house shook once more and there was a loud boom. Harriet clung onto Piper who sucked in a breath at their proximity. She pushed her away lightly but when another loud explosion happened, Harriet clung tighter. Piper cursed Tim for using his powers so close to the home and-
"Piper..." Harriet whimpered. "What's going on?"
"I think..." Piper struggled to get out anything with how tight Harriet was hugging her, "... the Elemental Trio are fighting someone nearby."
"WHAT?" Harriet all but screeched.
Piper muttered curses under her breath, "There's probably a new villain or something for them to use their powers."
"But-!" Harriet stuttered out, "There hasn't been a villain since Apophis and that was years ago!"
"Well..." Piper drawled out as the house shook once more, "Years pass and people change..."
"No! It can't be! They- they can't-"
The house shook even more and this time, it didn't stop. Piper stumbled when Harriet pounced bac to her, "Okay, Woah, calm down."
"LEO!" Harriet screamed when she realized he was upstairs.
Piper stiffened and wrapped her arms around Harriet, keeping her in place. She can't let her go upstairs. "Okay, listen, Harriet... I'm sure Leo is fine and-"
"No, it's dangerous!" Harriet fretted, "Isn't Delilah up there too?"
Piper flinched when she called Lila by her full name. It sounded... wrong to her. Especially when it came from Harriet's mouth in a worried tone. Almost like a mother. She shivered in disgust at the thought. "I mean, yes but-"
"Then we have to go up there and-"
"No!" Piper hissed, "It's dangerous to move around like this. We should stay right here until the fighting is done."
"What?!" Harriet hissed back, "And leave them up there?"
"I don't know what is up with you today, Harriet!" Piper gave up and ground out.
"What are you talking about!"
"First, you're all high and mighty and the very Queen Bitch you are then you make a sudden one-eighty and you're all nice and concerned and it doesn't make any sense!"
The wind picked up and the windows broke due to the sudden blast of sound. Piper glared at the shocked girl in front of her as she clenched her hands into fists. Harriet paused and scrunched up her eyebrows in thought, "But-"
"Don't give me your useless excuses, Harriet. I care about Leo like a brother. I've been with this family for a while now and I don't like it when people take them for granted or use them." Piper responded calmly, the wind causing her hair to whip around wildly. "They are like family to me. I will NOT stand by idly and watch you ruin Leo. I will not stand by and watch you tear into this family slowly."
"I don't-"
"Stop with you stupid, dumb act!" Piper screamed as she glared at her. "I know what you did with James! I know just how much Leo doesn't deserve you! I know you cheated on Leo with James!"
Harriet stepped back with wide eyes as if she was slapped in the face. Her eyebrows scrunched up even more as she looked at Piper in confusion and worry. She didn't understand what the blonde was talking about. The wind stopped and so did the shaking. The two stood in the middle of the living room, with broken glass surrounding them from the windows.
"I don't... I don't understand what you're saying."
