There are a lot of forms that need to be filled out soon after your kid is born. You can’t leave the hospital until your child is on the grid. So you’ll have to fill out forms for the birth certificate and forms for social security and forms for the military draft should they decide to start enlisting toddlers. It’s a whole big thing and you gotta make sure you fill the forms out correctly. That’s what they tell you when they’re rapid-fire explaining what all the forms are.
“You’ll need to make sure your handwriting is legible.”
“Make sure to spell everything correctly.”
They’re very serious about it and it’s enough to make you question your ability to even hold a pen correctly.
In the Molebash household, I’m the primary form-filler-outer. Mainly because I’m a cartoonist who hand-letters and my wife thinks I have great handwriting which I think is kind of stereotype-y. Just because I like to letter my comics doesn’t mean I can’t wait to “letter” a form. I’d rather stab my eyes out with a no. 2 pencil, but whatever. It’s best to avoid the argument.
