Several hours passed…
The invasion was short and haste…
But, it did leave some dire consequences…
~~~
Octavia recalled it clearly, fighting off several hulking monstrosities that dare attack the sanctuary that she and her brother strived to create. Only did she realize that one of the monsters she was fighting wondered off. She followed it’s powerful aura, only to find that the trail ran cold and leading her to find her daughter, an unconscious Ethan laying beside her, and the smoking remains of a rank three Oridian just a few feet away from them.
She couldn’t fathom what had occurred. She knew quite well that it wasn’t her daughter responsible for defeating the monster, leading her to believe that it was indeed Ethan who somehow manage to fight off the beast with the evidence being the Terrian markings appearing on his arms. But, that revelation was now troubling her.
‘What kind of power did I unlock?’ She thought as she came back to reality, staring at the bed that Ethan laid in.
A constant beep came from the monitor that displayed his heartbeat. Though, there was one other stat isn’t shown on any normal monitor. The section below his heartbeat monitor showed the energy that flowed through him. Terrian energy…It was well above any levels she’s seen…
If it weren’t for that, Ethan and Eve would probably be…
Octavia shook her head, not wanting to think further about that thought. Sinking into the waiting chair, she sighed as she stared up at the light blue ceiling, thinking about the future issues that she will have to deal with…
She had no other option but to bring him here to the medical wing. It was too risky to transport him to the surface since they didn’t know the status of his health or if there were more Ordians around the area that might follow them.
But, she ran into some issues since Ystel (that slippery little…), claimed he was a spy corrupted by Ordian influence and suggested to the Oracles that he should be eliminated on the spot. But, her accusation was shot down after his hand started to glow a bright white, signifying that he hadn’t been corrupted.
A smirk came across Octavia’s face, remembering the stuttering mess that Ystel tried to speak out, only to be silenced by the Oracles. They had even task Octavia to watch over until he was fully recovered. That worked in favor for her, since she had some questions to ask him and needed to be alone to get the answers she needed, but some of those could wait. All that she cared about now was him recovering.
While she didn’t move from her slouched posture, her eyes shifted back down onto Ethan, eyeing the bandages around his forehead. The gash head very nicely, no internal damage to his skull or brain. But, might have a small scar on his forehead.
Then, in her peripheral, she saw the tiniest bit movement outside the door leading to the hallway. Turning to see what it was, Octavia noticed the bright blonde curls of hair of her daughter who seemed to be hiding from her mother.
“Eve, sweetheart. I see you.” She called out.
The golden curls move slightly behind the doorframe until there was a small sigh. Then, a petite young girl, no more than around the age of eleven, came into view of her mother.
“Mommy? Is…will that man be ok?” Eve worriedly asked, her hands wringing her hands together as she entered the room slowly, not moving her eyes off of Ethan.
“Of course, sweetie. He’ll be just fine. Your friend Charlotte patched him up real good. He’s just taking a little nap.” Octavia reassured her.
Eve smiled brightly. Wandering over to his bed, Eve rested her arms on the rail and just stared at him, humming a sweet tune.
Octavia shifted in her seat, seeing that Eve had a slight limp from her left leg since she had tripped and bruised it, though it didn’t seem to bother her daughter.
“Eve… I’m very sorry for leaving you alone…” Octavia admits.
Eve’s humming stopped. This only caused Octavia to shake slightly, either from guilt or fear. Tears started to form from her eyes.
“I-I d-didn’t m-mean to-!” She was cut off by her daughter who ran into her on the chair and hugged her tightly.
“It’s ok, mommy…” Eve replies, her voice slightly muffled since her face was buried into Octavia’s stomach.
“Heh…” *sniffle* “T-thanks, Eve. That means a lot to me.” Octavia sniffled while she lifted her arms up from the armrests and wrap them tightly around Eve, returning the hug. They stayed like that for a few minutes, enjoying the moment that both of them were still alive from the surprise attack.
Soon, they separated from each other. Eve sloppily tried to wipe her tears that were streaming down her face with the edge of her white cloak. Octavia did the same, though she used the white sleeve of her undershirt to wipe the tears that were about to fall. Once they had calmed down, Octavia reached over and patted Eve’s head.
“Now, Eve. I need you to meet with your Grandfather, ok? Tell him that as soon as the man is awake, I’ll be meeting with him.” She informed her daughter, who listened intently to the request.
Eve smiled brightly and nodded before running out of the room. Octavia's smile stayed on her face as her daughter left the room. Once she knew she was alone again, she sighed and slunk back into her chair and stared at the ceiling in contemplation.
‘What am I gonna say? Will this affect your plan, mom? Or are we in over our heads with this whole idea?’ She asked herself.
“Ngh…”
The sound of Ethan waking up took Octavia out of her thoughts. Fixing her posture, she turned toward him, seeing his eyes flutter under the bright lights attached to the wall.
“Ethan! Thank goodness you’re awake!” She announced.
