The cheap coffee in my hands had turned cold a long time ago. My fingers where numb around it. I looked up at the sunset as the last bit of vivid color fell under the trees. I broke my gaze away from the dark sky and turned my attention towards the small airplane a few yards away from me. A noise not too different than a low hissing escaped the engine. The plane was starting. I shivered but didn't dare reach for my jacket, afraid I would miss this moment. The plane started to roll forwards. My eyes were stinging from the cold but I was unable to blink. The plane lifted off the ground and shot upwards into the sky. I let myself look down. She was gone forever.
