Gods Without Faith

Jace

Jace

Dec 16, 2019

When I awoke, it was because of light streaming in from the blinds. I groaned as the sun glinted at me.

“Ugh, school,” I mumbled.

I hurriedly ate breakfast, a sandwich and a glass of milk, and hurried to school after throwing on the uniform. Charlie, again, was not there when I went to look for him. Unfortunately, Aspen was. I saw her and immediately began walking the other way, but one of her friends caught me by the walk. I glared at them and attempted to pull my wrist free, but was unable to.

“Jace?” she wondered, walking up to us. She stared at his hands pointedly. “What are you doing?” Aspen asked.

“Oh, nothing.” He looped an arm around my shoulders. “Just trying to hang out with my friend.”

“It doesn’t look like he wants to,” she retorted.

“Can I leave now?” I snapped.

Aspen smiled at me.

“Come on, Kennith, let’s go,” she said, pulling on my wrist.

I let her drag me away as the guy glared at me. After I was out of his sight, I pulled away.

“What was that?” I demanded.

“Just a friend trying to start trouble,” Aspen replied.

“Why?” I asked.

“Because of yesterday,” Aspen answered.

“Oh.”

“Yeah.”

“I have to go to class,” I excused myself.

Aspen nodded and let me leave. I hurried to my first class, P.E.. I smiled, thinking about the fact that I finally was having a class I had fun in. I used to be on the soccer, baseball, and swim team before rumors began concerning me. I also did a bit of archery on the side for fun. I was really fit back then. I fondly remember my days as an athlete. My expression darkened as I began to remember the fights, insults, and arguments.

“Why do you look pissed?” Charlie asked, jolting me out of my trance.

“It’s nothing.”

"Just tell me," he pried.

"Ugh. I'm just remembering my time on the team," I replied.

"Which one?" Charlie inquired.

"All of them," I said.

“Oh, that makes sense,” he agreed.

“Yeah…” I mumbled.

“Are you okay?” Charlie asked slowly.

I forced a smile on my face and looked up to him.

“I found out that I have to wear the stupidest uniform for the school that I’m going into,” I laughed.

“What’s it like?” Charlie inquired curiously.

“Oh, I have to wear a blazer, dress shirt, dress pants, and leather dress shoes!” I laughed.

“Do you even know how to tie a tie?” he asked.

“No,” I answered with a smirk.

“OH. That’s really annoying,” Charlie commented.

“I just won’t wear it,” I shrugged.

“Nice…”

“Class is starting soon. You should sit down,” I suggested.

“True… bye,” he said before leaving.

You're going to be taught be gods I don't think "just not wearing it" is going to work.
