Today's smile question: If you could change your eye color to any color, what would it be and why?
Additional fun info: The part of the eye that changes color is called the tapetum lucidum. When light goes through the retina of a reindeer, the tapetum lucidum bounces back light to the retina so the light-detecting cells can intercept stray photons. This allows reindeers and other mammals to see in dim light. The tapetum lucidum is usually gold in color for reindeers, but not in the winter! Their eyes become dilated during the dark winter which adds pressure to collagen that make up the tapetum lucidum. When the collagen gets squeezed, the wavelengths reflect blue rather than gold! Also, the article stated that some other reindeers had green eyes during the winter!
