"Is she ok Edwin?"
Voices...a guy...Tanner....
"Yes, I think she'll be fine. She has a minor concussion - "
A man...Edwin....
"Dammit!"
Tanner....
"Tanner, language."
A woman...Karrie....
"She can hear us."
A girl...Jen....
"Jen, how conscious is she?"
Edwin....
"We sound muffled...can everyone just stop thinking loud right now, please?"
Jen....
"Sorry, Jen."
Everyone....
"She...she's not feeling - never mind. Edwin! Come here! She's in real pain! Maggie! Maggie! Edwin, help her!"
Jen....
"There's not much I can do! What kind of pain is it?"
Edwin....
"Oh gosh. Edwin, she's bleeding badly! Keep me away!"
Jen....
"Tanner! Karrie! Take Jen away now! I can't let her get to Maggie!"
Edwin....
The voices dimmed and I was immersed in darkness. And the burning! It was everywhere! All I could feel was a fire in my veins.
"Tanner! You idiot! You bit her!"
Jen....
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!"
Tanner....
"Jen, calm down!"
Karrie....
"I can't calm down! He should have never gotten into that car! This would have never happened!"
Jen....
Finally, I screamed. The pain was overwhelming me...oh, what I would give for Tanner to take this away!
"AH! Somebody get me away from her! I can feel her pain!
Jen....
"AH! Tanner! Please! Tanner!" The pain never faded. "Get it out!"
"Maggie, stay with me. This will only last a few da - "
Tanner....
"A few days? Why? Ah! It hurts so much!"
"Maggie." Tanner's voice sang through my ears. I tried to reach towards him - but instead I screamed his name. "Maggie. Maggie, y-you're starting to stop bleeding. Maggie y-you're changing into one of...us."
"Why?"
"Because I bit you. By the way, your car is trashed."
"MOM!" I screamed, alarmed and in pain.
"She's alright. I had Jen take her out."
"TANNER!" I had to know...I was so confused....
"I'm right here."
"JEN!" I writhed in agony on the bed that I was laid on.
"She can't be in here while you are in pain."
"WHY?"
"She can feel the pain through your thoughts."
"I'M SORRY!" I cried out.
"You can't help it. It's ok."
"KARRIE!"
"She can't be in here either. It's too painful for her to see you like this."
"EDWIN!"
"He's right here."
"Hello Maggie."
Edwin....
"MAKE IT STOP!"
"It will stop after your body is fully changed."
"WHY CAN'T IT STOP NOW?" I demanded.
"Because your body isn't fully changed."
"MURDER?"
"She died after Jen extracted the ghost that had possessed her."
"Rest in peace Murder!" I screamed painfully. I gave up on talking; it didn't take my mind from the pain. But when my three days were up, I felt exceptional.
I had to stay out of school for a while so that I could handle my thirst. It was hard, because my mom was so panicked that she had turned to the idea that the murdering animal had killed me. Tanner and I had gone on hunting dates. Though I was 'too young to marry him,' we got engaged after we had moved to a different town. Jen found her soul mate on the day of our engagement party; the guy who made all our food had bumped into her while he was dishing out some more cakes.
After a decade or so, my mother died: car accident. My father died before because of heart failure. When we were sure that everyone we had know before I had become a vampire had died, we moved back to town.
As you can see, after I have told you my story, I could have changed my fate.
If I hadn't paid attention to Jen, I wouldn't have become a vampire. If I hadn't pushed my observing techniques, I wouldn't have become a vampire. If I hadn't tried to get out of the car, I wouldn't have become a vampire.
I am no longer confused, so thank you for listening.
Maggie Days
