A.N. Warning, there is a bit of descriptive blood/violence/gore
Ledus felt his body freezing over, he looked around at the dark room trying to figure out what was happening. His breathing was ragged from the cold and panic. Finally his eyes landed on another figure. About 10 feet away, Kade stood watching him. “Kade can help me, he’ll, he’ll warm me up.” he mumbled to himself as he reached out his hand “K-Kade,” he tried to crawl over to him but his effort was halted. Glancing back, he saw that his feet were shackled by a short chain fastened to the ground. His heart beat increased as he pulled vainly at the heavy chains. He twisted back around to ask Kade for help but the sight that greeted him was far more horrifying than his own situation. Kade was forced to his knees, his hands bound by metal handcuffs, a sword sitting on the back of his neck. Ledus could see Kade moving his lips but he couldn’t hear anything that he was saying. His body grew colder and colder, but the icy pain he felt in his heart was not from lack of body heat, it was from the sight of the sword slowly rising into the air. He desperately tried to crawl to Kade using all of his energy to try and break free. He felt weak, pathetic, useless, he cried desperately, still trying with all of his might to reach him. “KADE!” He reached out his hand one last time but it was all futile. The man brought down the sword. In one swift, cruel movement everything ended. The blood spilled forth like a broken pool, his lifeless body fell forward splashing into the puddle. Ledus screamed in terror at the sight, his heart pierced by an unknown pain.
“KADE!! This can’t be real!” he closed his eyes as he rocked himself back and forth. “This isn’t real, it’s not.” he mumbled out. Slowly he peeked his eyes open, there in front of him was the severed head, the glassy lifeless eyes staring straight at him.
He let out a terrified scream, his body jerking away. Tears poured from his eyes, his breathing ragged and panicked, his body covered in a cold, uncomfortable sweat. His eyes slowly adjusted, what had seemed to be a head was just one of his pillows, the dark environment had been switched for his curtain enclosed bed. He began to sit up, looking around frantically, mumbling nonsensical words. Then he was enveloped in a warm hug, his head gently pressed against someone’s chest.
“It’s ok Ledus, you’re safe.” Tyel cooed softly, “It was just a bad dream, you’re safe.” Even though it was not his safety that caused his panic, Ledus was calmed by Tyel’s gentle words and comforting hug. He took a few deep breaths gradually calming down more and more. After a few good, comforting minutes had passed, he pushed slightly away from Tyel, looking him in the eyes. “Feeling better?” Ledus nodded but suddenly the events of last night burst into his head.
“Tyel, you-you didn’t do anything to K-Kade did you?!” He wasn’t trying to hurt me, he-he just wanted to help me.” Tyel smiled at Ledus stroking his hair attempting to calm the boy down again.
“Don’t fret Ledus, he and I just talked, he told me everything. Kade is fine, he just needed to go back to his room so as to avoid any suspicion.” Ledus was relieved to hear this, he didn’t want Kade to be in trouble due to him. He let out a deep sigh but then smiled excitedly at Tyel.
“I saw the stars!” he bounced in place. Tyel could only chuckle as he nodded. “They were amazing, not like anything I could have ever imagined!” Tyel stood up, pulling Ledus with him. Tyel started Ledus on his morning routine, humming every now and then in response to Ledus’ excited story about the stars. It wasn’t until breakfast was brought up that Ledus stopped talking his joyous rambling. When the food was set down Ledus sat and ate quietly, resuming his doll like demeanor.
