“Oh man, that changes so many things…” groaned Miue, holding onto the sides of his head as he stared down to the table. He was feeling that all the tiredness of the last few days was finally striking at his body. “And, at the same time, makes so much sense…”
“This may be uncalled for, but in their defence, Iru and M0 never explicitly said what kind of relationship they have,” pointed out Eki, probably the only soldier that had remained considerably calm throughout the sudden revelation. “Maybe it’s always been a misunderstanding on our side to regard them as a couple.”
“In what kind of universe do brothers… twins, even, kiss…?” tiredly asked Ikusaki, his upper body sprawled on top of the conference table as he remained sat down on his seat. “French kiss, if I must add…”
“Probably in the universe created by a fujoshi or fudanshi,” said Mizusaki, his head hanging back as he sluggishly stared to the ceiling. “I’m honestly glad that the reproductory system has been deactivated in super soldiers… or they would run the risk of taking twincest to a whole new level…”
“Well, they have a different concept of things so…” started Murayama, still feeling extremely exhausted. “Maybe, just like Eki said, it has been a misunderstanding from our side to see them as a couple. Maybe they just aren’t aware that there are different kinds of love and that each one of them is gone about in different ways.”
“It was Atsumu who informed them of the act of kissing so perhaps he didn’t quite offer a good explanation or some shit like that,” added Miue after releasing a long, tired sigh.
“And Mitaru has given us proofs that they categorise things in a broader sense rather than dividing it into smaller, more specific groups… like the car vs humvee thingy…” also added Ikusaki, regaining a little bit of energy that made him slowly sit back straight on the chair.
“Mitsu, what’s the deal with M0 and Iru, in the end?” asked Mizusaki, turning his head slightly to the left and throwing a peek at Mitsu, who remained leisurely sat down on her seat while writing some things in her laptop. “I mean, in terms of their actual relationship.”
“Hm… I don’t know if Iru would be very happy if I were to talk about him and M0 while none of the two is present to say something for themselves,” confessed Mitsu after giving the question a little bit of thought. “But yeah, the human scope of emotions is a quite… complicated matter. What you hate one day may turn into something you deeply love in the future. The other way around too, just as a million other emotions that humans can harbour. I’ll be quoting Iru here but just because we’re called as machines, it doesn’t mean we don’t have our own thoughts and an individualised perception of things around us. Just because we give it a certain name, it doesn’t mean that it’s all that different from the way you view it. So I would say that if you want to know more about it, you should go ask Iru and M0 about it.”
“But if their concept of love is different from our several scopes of love, wouldn’t a conversation like that end up going nowhere?” pointed out Eki, giving a quick shrug with his shoulders. “It would just be us going back and forth since we wouldn’t know which side was misunderstanding what.”
“Then just teach them about the several scopes of human love and then ask them which it is,” suggested Mitsu, also shrugging her shoulders. “Instead of just wasting your time trying to formulate theories, arguments and excuses, you might as well just go ask the people in question about it. If you don’t, then you definitely will never know the actual truth.”
“From what I got to know from Iru in the last few days… the unknown would be the safest…” grumbled Ikusaki, softly massaging his bruised neck - wounds that he obtained when Iru tried to kill him upon their entrance in his cell and a brief conversation about M0.
“Then don’t say anything and just leave them be,” said Mitsu, shrugging her shoulders once again and returning to her work in the laptop. “I mean, whatever it is that you may tell them, I don’t think it would change much. Whether it’s a misunderstanding from your side, a misunderstanding from their side or how they actually view each other… do you think it would be you saying ‘brothers can’t romantically love each other, not even kiss, because it’s morally wrong and seen as a taboo in human society’ that it would make them change in any form and shape? We’re not humans so all of your rules and common sense will never be applied to us. They’ve known they’re twins for a long, long time now, and we, the other Ms, have also known about it for a long, long time. Take me and Mi-chan as an example too. So maybe Ikusaki-kun is right on what he said, in a way. It’s better for you if you just stay out of our business. It’s not like you would ever come to understand, no matter how much time you spend with us.”
“...”
Is there really such a big difference between us that a full understanding can never be achieved… or are we just setting up defensive barriers around each group and calling it ‘impossible’ out of fear for what it may bring forward?, inwardly wondered Murayama as he looked back to the open folder in front of him.
