Additional fun info: The black capped chickadee's hippocampus, the part of the brain that plays an important role in spatial memory, grows in fall and summer when it's hiding its seed. When winter comes around, it can remember the hiding spots. The chickadee discards cells that hold old memories and replace them with new ones to store fresh memories!
