The Last Virgoian

Two Years Later

Two Years Later

Nov 17, 2019

For the longest time I went town to town hoping that Lord Seymour didn't find me. I was hoping he would have given up trying to locate me. I didn't use any of my powers not wanting to draw attention to myself. I was now in a huge town. Buildings reaching almost the sky, parks bigger then the church land, the weather as cold as ice. I had my arms under my chest hugging myself for warmth. I sat on a bench that was a bus stop. My hair wet, cloths drenched to the bone, my hands and feet cold. It had started to rain a few hours ago but I couldn't find shelter from it. I shivered some more. A car went by slashing water all over me. I had written mother a few times glad that the church was still standing. I was miles even years away from it. I sighed as yet another car splashed me. I wished I wasn't so important. When was I suppose to take over anything if I was hiding all the time. Maybe I'll die soon and with my death..... SWACK. I jerked sideways as a mud ball hit me right on the side of my face. I heard giggling then another mud ball right at my shoulder. I whipped the mud from my face and looked over. A group of boys hiding under a tree was making mud balls and throwing them at me. They looked to be about ten years old. Another hit the back of my head. I sat there looking forward, arms tucked still, as yet another hit my side. A car came by but this time it didn't splash me but stopped right in front of me. Thinking it to be the bus I looked up to wave it on when a tall man came out of it. Thinking it was Lord Seymour I jumped up from the bench the mud running down my small body making a pile on the cement. He came around the car dressed in a business suit. His shoulder length hair parted in the middle the color of black, his green eyes taking an up and down motion of my mud caked body now shivering with fright and cold. he came forward slowly. His hands up. He looked to stand six foot one. Maybe that was why I almost mistaken him for Seymour. I relaxed a bit more as I heard the kids whisper then scurry off. I kept my eyes on the man approaching me. He had shook his head. At what I wasn't sure. Was it the way I looked? The boys? The way I reacted to him getting out of the car? Whatever it was I could imagine it wasn't too amusing to me.

"I couldn't help but notice you were getting muded." His voice was smooth and calm. Almost flowing like a river. I stared at him. His eyes were the purest of greens that I had ever seen. Almost looked like the ocean. I didn't know what to say or do. Was he someone working for Seymour? What made him stop? "Also, I was wondering... you look new to this town, do you have a place to stay?" I shook my head causeless. My hands at my sides. "Then, let me make an offer." Is hair was now wet and was plastered to his head. It kept it's nice neat parted style as the rain slowed down. "My name is Edward McKnight. I own a lot of buildings around here. Maybe you've heard of me." I shook my head. His head went down almost irritated. "OK then I'll get straight to the point. My wife past away a month ago leaving me with our new born baby. She gave birth and died. I have been going crazy at home trying to take care of her and my business but everything is falling apart. I was hoping you could be a live in nanny. I won't ask much." Apparently this guy didn't know who I was and he needed help bad. Well, so did I.

"Your just going to welcome me into your home to take care of your new born baby without even knowing my name or background?" My voice was horse from the weather as I felt a slight cold coming on. "I don't think I'm the one that should be taking care of your baby. I mean, I know a lot about them but look at me." I indicated what I was wearing. "I come from the country. All these cars and your form of transportation is new to me. All I know about are carriages and horses." I coughed covering my mouth.

"Well then stay the night and think about it." He opened the door to the passenger side of the vehicle. I looked up at him. "And we can start out by telling me your name since you already have mine."

"I'm Jaq."

"No last name?"

"Nope, just Jaq." I got in the car most of the mud had been washed away from the rain. He got in as I took in the warmth the car seemed to be giving. I wanted to push every button in the car but knew I shouldn't. I placed my hands in my lap as he drove off.

I sat there in the car as he drove deeper into the city. I looked out the window seeing the buildings fly by. He went pretty fast. There

wasn't anyone on the roads almost at all. I looked over at his dark tanned

features as he looked forward, his lean hand on his cheek, his hand on

the top of the steering wheel. His attention seemed to be on the road

rather then me. I looked back out the window keeping my posture. The seat

belt around my middle. About a half an hour later we came to a street

with mansions leading down to the biggest mansion.

"That's where I live." He said. I looked over at the dimly lit mansion

at the end of the street. He must be pretty rich. It was even bigger

then the monastery. He pulled up into the drive. He got out as I slowly

did the same. I could hear the baby crying. He sighed setting the alarm

on the car. I followed him up as he opened the door. A house alarm went

off. He turned right and punched a few buttons on the wall. I stayed on

the porch watching him. The porch wrapped around the house. He went to

go in but looked back at me. "There's no need to be frightened." I

nodded walking into the house. The crying got worse as I followed him

through the house to the elderly woman that was at the couch rocking a small

bundle back and forth without much progress. I stayed by the arch way as the man approached the woman.

"Thank you Anya for looking after Alora for me."

"Your welcome, sir. Any time although I think something is wrong she hasn't stopped crying since I fed her." She handed him the bottle and left. The chime going off as she left the house. He walked over to the chair and rocked her, trying to sooth her with his voice.

"She has gas." I said. He looked over at me. "Turn her on her belly on the couch and rub her back. She might throw up too." He did as I said. As she laid on her stomach she had gave a burp spitting some milk out. He wiped her face and picked her up whipping her more making sure she was clean. She had settled down and even sighed at the relief.

"How did you know that?"

"The bottle has cows milk in it." He smelled the bottle then cursed. "I.. can just tell." I said not letting him know that I can see things when using my powers. He nodded and placed the baby on a clean cloth. He changed the dirty diaper and picked her up again. He rocked her back and forth. "Just give her some baby water before she goes to bed and when she gets up her stomach should feel better." He looked at me as I stood there still soak and wet probably dripping on the floor. He held my gaze for a moment then walked over.

"You must be cold. I'm sure that the country doesn't get rain as cold as this." His voice was a bit husky. "I'll just place her in her crib and get you a towel." He disappeared through a nursery door then came back through the other door. "The door I just came from is your room. It was going to be my wife's room because it is connected to the nursery."

"You didn't want to sleep next to each other?"

"She wasn't wanting to make love after having the baby." I mouthed an Oh and took the towel mumbling my thanks. "Things didn't go to well the last three months of her pregnancy."

"You blame yourself for her dying?" HE chuckled a bit.

"Yeah... you can say that. She thought I was cheating on her with my secretary. I guess most woman think that while they are pregnant and told by the doctor not to have any intercourse cause you might miscarry. She wanted a divorce after the baby was born but couldn't afford one."

"I'm sorry to hear that."

"Things happen for a reason. We meet people for reasons as well." I half smiled. "I'll give you a tour of the house, then you can take up your room. There are a few things in there that look like they would fit you from my wife. She was a bit smaller around the hips though." He took that moment to take a scan of my to me average sized body.

"I'm sure I'll manage." He nodded then started walking. It didn't take long to show me where things were. Not that i already knew I could guess most of it and get the right answer. He stopped at my door.

"My room is on the second floor. I'm sure you can peak into rooms and get most right. If you think about it tonight and decide to stay it would be my honor to have you around. I will give you what i expect right now just in case you decide yes then don't want to do it." I nodded holding the towel to my chest. "Take care of the baby of course. My family and her family was here during her birth and funeral. The rooms upstairs need tending to. After that all i expect is for my daughter to be looked after and up keep. I work 8am-5pm most days unless something goes wrong at the office. I don’t expect dinner made. That isn’t what your here for." I nodded knowing I was going to end up doing it anyways. The guy looked beat. I went to open the door when he lightly gripped my wrist. I turned to his cloudy green eyes. "Thank you, by the way. I would have been up for hours trying to figure out what was wrong." I nodded and went into the room.

The Virgioans were a peaceful race that knew magic, high technology, and was one with the land. They never bothered any other nation. Not many left the home land. Untill The King of the Empire came for a visit. After that, nothing went right.

With them exterminated, the King felt no remorse and secured, specially when one madian was gifted to him as a "Peace offering."

On that day, the Princess was born. The queen tried to escape but was not successful. Before her death, she placed her baby in a boat and pushed it out into the river. She found her way to a monastery and lived peacefully there.

Eighteen years later, with the rumor of a royal descendant of the Virgoians going around, Lord Seymour, the Kings first son has taken it upon himself to find and kill her.

On the run, she gets invited by Edward McKnight to take care of his daughter since his wife died while giving birth. He is well known in the area for owning his own business empires. With no home, she agrees.

Edward feels guilty for tying Jaq down to his home, taking care of his daughter and acting as a little house wife. He comes up with a plan to find a "proper wife" so that Jaq wouldn't have to be there any longer then she had to, even if it broke his heart.
