"Are you alright?" The creature asked me. "I can feel your heart quickening."
I ignored the creature's inquiry in favor of focusing on Yang. I felt it withdraw and I breathe a silent sight of relief I didn't know I was holding in. Meanwhile, my skin tingled slightly when I passed through the little gate door and a stronger one when I followed him through the doorway behind the counter. The tingling was caused by barriers Yang had erected to protect his property and the privacy of him and his clients. There was a short hallway beyond it with a few doors lining it. Yang brought me to the nearest one and let me into the examination room it lead to.
The room beyond it had a low padded long rectangular table in the middle of it, about waist high for Yang and allowing him easily examine to his patients. To one side there was book case full of leather bound books, the occasional odd nick-knack, and some of his commonly used tools of his trade. There was a short ladder next to it so he could reach what he needed from the shelves.
On the other side there was a small work table with lots of drawers. He went over to it after having me sit down on the padded table and pulled out a cone of incense and a little round tray from one of the top drawers. He lit the tip of the cone with a little open flame hand lighter that he fished out of a pocket hidden in one of his sleeves. He blew the tip of the cone out before putting on the tray, leaving the tip of it a smoldering ember. A fine thin stream smoke wafted up from it and the mild calming scent of lavender filled the air of the room. The scent of the incense had a calming effect helped me to put me at ease in an otherwise uneasy place for me.
"So... what does boy want from me today? It must be serious if you want a consultation after so long." Yang asked after he had lit the incense and turned back to me.
"It is." I said before telling him what had happened starting with yesterday and going all the way up to late this morning with the unusual increase in appetite for me. He listened to my story intently and asked questions during it. When my explanation was over, Yang was quiet for a time as he thought.
"Well?" I asked, slightly impatient and some what worried by the long period of silence from him.
"Wait here. I need to consult my books. My other books. And perhaps a few of my scrolls" He amended when he saw me look over at the bookshelves in the room.
"Oh."
"I will try to not to be very long. Will you and your...ah.. friend(?) be alright waiting here for a while? Or do you wish to go home and wait?" He asked.
