Notice how, even now, Snake Boy doesn't want Sam to go try to help Casey? Why? Maybe because she'll find out what he's really trying to do if she comes into contact with Mike, Snake Girl, Julie, or Regina? Let's look at what we have learned about Mike and Juliette over the past chapters: Mike is kind hearted to a fault. Juliette learned something so horrible in her parents' lab that she nearly killed herself through starvation as a result. Are these the type of people who would be killers? I don't think so! Regina, we now know, is the hereditary monarch whose entire family was killed in the war. We also know that she has no qualms about getting rid of dangerous individuals who believe that they are apex predators and have the right to hunt lower tier people. Casey IS a lower tier person... Snake Boy is a high tier with a chip on his shoulder because of something that the government did to his father... perhaps those things are related?
