Ch 2 A little crazy
The moment Kuzu's (now lightly) muddy shoes hit the ground outside the bus, he was nearly tackled into said ground by his would-be boyfriend Delic. Yes, his arms were wrapped around Kuzu in a vise nearly crushing all air out of him.
"The hell man? Why must you insist on coddling me, we aren't dating you know! And, and stop staring at me with your creepy yellow eyes! I know those contact lenses are the cheap ones so go bark up some other tree!"
Mean yes, effective... no. He liked to follow Kuzu around like some sort of lost puppy, as if Kuzu was going to forgive him for how Delic used to pick on him relentlessly when they were small.
"Yo Kuzu just wait, I'll get you a muffin and juice box, you need to eat more. You know you're way too thin right?"
"Let go of my hand right now Delic, before I go a little crazy!" Kuzu? Bite his head off? Why yes he would.
He droped Kuzu's hand and Kuzu scampered after Merill who blew kisses and skipped into the building. Kuzu flinched as Buhba shouted out for them to be safe and have a nice day. Not even getting to school is simple anymore. He smiled weakly to Buhba and waved bye before Delic started dragging him inside. Delic's about to pull Kuzu to the long-ass breakfast line when another older student named Gigani grabbed Kuzu and pulled him off to go somewhere. Her white and black spiked hair bounces a bit as she takes fast steps, catching an unknown wind in a way most super models would have killed for. Not that she cared since she was just that kind of cool. Light green eyes sparkled down at him as she adjusted her hoodie. Guess they were ditching again today. She was not a ditcher, or at least didnt seem so, she must just have free periods. Kuzu could afford to miss a little. (goodbye possible 4.0 GPA).
He had had to cling to her shoulders as she tried to get me to grind. Grind what? No! The railing of the back staircase of the school, which really was the worst place what with the echo that goes through the staircase room. He didn't ever get why she wanted him to do this but she smirked and gave a nod before saying in an overly calm voice that he needed... skills. She said, "Skills dude, you need skills kiddo." He didn't think the girl he liked most would care if he had this skill but Giga was convinced. Honestly it didn't help that she took him away from the classes he did have with Nina, Ni for short. She was this creepy girl with meatball hair and eyes that could freeze lava. But she was smart, far smater then anyone else he had known. He had a theory that perhaps she was a closet geek or perhaps a metal head in the closet just waiting for the right person to come along and show her life could be fun. He wanted to be that person of course but didn't have the guts to say yet.
Giga petted his hair and tried to tug at one of his ear piercings to get his attention. "Ow!" He looked at her blankly and she swatted his head telling him he should be one with the railing. Whatever the dickens that meant.
He climbed back onto the skateboard, his knees shaking and feet unsure; when the ground started to shift in the dimly lit stair wall. The shaking in his knees got worse and he lost his balance, falling over. Giga grabbed Kuzu's arm and she kicked up her skateboard to hold onto. They both rushed down the stairwells not knowing what else to do, since earthquakes were unusal around here. Kuzu glimpsed back in time to see a strange shadow of a person run down the hall, their long tendril-like hair waving about all over the hall behind and around their head. As the person passed, lockers rattled or slammed open by an unseen force. This person, they were so tall, even more so then Merill and he was nearly six feet! Was he exaggerating, maybe, but he was panicking! The person stopped and looked back at us for a moment and he couldn't breath for a moment seeing their face, or really lack of face. They had no features, no nose or eyes and maybe no mouth. He smelled like rotted wood and spiders. He, it... it turned and started walking toward them as if aquiring a target. Now that he could get a better look at it with the windows' light he could see that it wasn't hair but some sort of extra arms or appendages coming out from behind it.
He was pulled back and Giga had his arm making him run for it through another hall and out one more to the front of the school where everyone was probably going to rush to since the ground was continuing with its shaking.
The creature jumped, arms stretching out to try and grab them with surprisingly speedy movement and balance considering the shaking school. Giga pulled him behind her as she jumped up high, higher then I thought possible, and gave a roundhouse kick to the thing's face.
A growl sounded as it swung its arms to attack. Suddenly all light went out, even the light from the sun outside, and the thing disappears just before hitting her. It had just been an instant of darkness, but the sun couldn’t have gone out—the clouds must have covered the sun at just that moment to darken things so fast. Maybe he had blinked a micro second too long.
Teachers and students filled the hall just as the light came back. They probably hadn’t seen anything strange since they all made their way out of the building without comment. Maybe it’s for the best they were too late; he just hoped that creature was gone. And real...
