Silence, it was the single thing for a second that surrounded the entire room, as the bliss of birth was taking place before my eyes. The cocoon looked like it was pulsating while an attached thread of spiders webs tangled formed a cord to nourish the "fetus". I could hear his heart beating fast and steady.
"Beautiful..." I trailed off as I wrinkle my nose in excitement. The boy will live, even a cursed life like me, but had a change to a new start. Yves had a frustrating look on his face, that made it clearly he hated his creation. "Let's go!" Smiling I told him as I turned toward the exit hearing Binko hissing.
A dash and Yves was beside the child as his claws came up tearing the newborn sanctuary, unable him to stop him. Underneath it, a slimy liquid oozed out like blood from an open gashed spilled and dissipated on the floor. It had the color of the sugar syrup, but with a smell of death and bitter.
Yves creation now only hanged from the cord, gasping for air and devoid of skin. Through his flesh the veins looked like a raveled river filled with cold colors. It reminds me of Oliver eyes when he starred in mine, lifeless. Only his abdomen and members had a color engraved in his flesh, black mixed with brown. His legs were short and torn apart while his arms looked like a spider front legs, thin, long and fragile.
Yves with one slice cut the cord and the kid felt on the ground, revealing his face. Yves had right. He wasn't human. Across his big eyes a thick skin was covering them, but I could see the holes, empty which made me shiver, as the creature within me was wailing.
I turned away unable to watch his face. It was grotesque. I could hear him starting crawling as he grazed his body from the cement, letting pieces of flesh from his abdomen behind him, crawling toward the pool of blood.
A sipping echoed through the room and I turned slightly, feeling sad. I wanted to save him, but only gave him this hideous shape. He had tongue, no flesh on his face, only sharp teeth's, were holes in face, from where the blood was oozing out.
I could not watch him struggle and gave a nod to Yves to end his suffering. A crack I heard as I walk out and a whizz from behind. My heart ached. His head was carved out. A fast; death.
"I'm sorry, Nat." Yves said as he walked beside me. "I know you wanted him saved but that thing there wasn't him anymore. I'll clean later." He said and I only nodded unable to fight back the tears.
"I would have done it myself, but I'm tired of killing..."
Was it true, or was I lying myself to feel myself better? One thing I know I was exhausted. I slid down on the sofa sinking in my thoughts as the first rays of sun were falling on my face, between the curtain openings.
"It is morning!" Yves said, as he pulls out the curtains and the blinding light penetrates my eyes, hurting me. "You should rest; I'll clean up and dispose of the bodies." He continued, as I made him a sign to sit near me. Tilting his head Yves approaches me with a smirk on his face. "Hmm, do you want this sexy body?" Hearing this, I scoffed while Yves faked a hurt expression, but sticking his tongue out to me.
"You and your bad jokes..." I glanced into his eyes and I could see regrets that lingered, but he masked his emotion well. "I want to see how you created him."
"Nathaniel, please don't hurt your self by seeing." Yves took my face between his palms and with a sad smile continued. "I only place an egg from my tongue in him, that's it." He glanced at me averting his eyes. I knew his venom was painful, that boy been in pain, silent, unable to move or shout, as the egg blossomed in him, creating the creature we just killed.
"You do not need to lie to me Yves," I said as I hold my arms and let him fall to my chest caressing his back. "You have been a good boy."
Slowly after a time, both drifted in a dreamless sleep, feeling his body warmth upon my skin, craving that someone will give me affection without killing him, with my kisses. In my sleep I could hear a hopeless cry, as my eyes fluttered to open. The sky was painted in beautiful streaks of orange and purple as the sun started to descend.
Night was upon me again, cold and terrifying as my shoulder ached feverishly. Rubbing it, I noticed Yves was sleeping deep with his head on my hip, while Binko curled to his chest. Lifting his head slowly, I placed a small pillow under his head and stood up feeling slightly dizzy. I stopped for a minute, as I felt a pull toward the feeding room.
I let my body guide me until I reached it; like I was in a trance, as my heart was slamming in my chest, licking my lips in feeling uneasy of the sight I'll find there.
Shaking, I gripped from the knob and pushed the door which let a creak. My eyes fell to the center from where our meal was still hanging from the ceiling; as a whimper reached my ears making me freeze and made me turn my head toward the corner from me left. My mouth dropped, as before my eyes curled in a ball and crying the child looked like he was trying to become one with the wall.
The light flicked, and I could saw him better. His skin was bathed in blood and was dirty, but his appearance was normal, beside his hair, which had a silky texture and albino. My lips twitched. He was alive.
Slowly, I approached him and crouched near him, sweeping his hair from his eyes, which were still closed. He flinched; as he was chewing up his nails until they were filled with blood, they were sweet and thin.
"So...we do not die when our head is smashed!" I heard a whistle and a very amazed Yves, leaning by the frame door with his arms folded on his chest and worse bed hair I ever seen. "The little shit didn't die, awesome." He says as I shook my head as I focused on the boy as he was shaking heavly.
"What is your name?" I ask him as his head turns toward me opening his eyes. I remained mesmerized by their new color. The iris was a red circle and inside another red dot united by small red streaks as his all eye was fully black, like a raven.
Trembling on my arm with his fingers bathed in his own blood he etched like a drawing his name "Sergei".
"Welcome back!" It was the only thing before Yves took him in his arms and we all got out from the room. I could feel how scared he was and confused.
"I'm going to wash him, he stinks!" Yves told me, as he wrinkles his nose, but I saw his glee from his eyes. Seeing them vanishing I sat down at last feeling like this day brought a miracle only to jolt up in my feet's as a hard knock in the door made me shudder.
"Open up you stupid!" Emilian shouted from beyond the door, as I rushed toward the door and only opened slightly. A neighbor from the floor above pass with her son and they turn their heads from me like had some kind of disease.
I know what they think about me. That I'm a strange guy that picks up cats, or other stupid thing; that draw kids with them in here. "Earth to a fucker!" I feel a sting across my face and him snickering. "Listen here bitch, father tomorrow has a party for his birthday and you better be there. I came personal to tell you because I know you're hiding in this filth like a coward. Have no idea why he waste his breath on a fucking wreck like you. You make me sick..." He continues on and on as I tried my best to not jump at his jugular vein. I smiled only.
"He will come, you little prick." Suddenly I heard Yves voice as he dry his hair with a towel and Emilian grimacing at his sight. "Hmm, I'll love to eat that booty of yours..." He continued wiggling his eyebrows and making some funny faces as milian turned and walked away cursing.
I slammed the door and lifted an angry eye brow as I glanced at him. "We're going?" He nodded only and passing near me he whispered something that I understood clearly. He wanted me to socialize.
"You should stop blaming of what happened fourteen years ago."
"I nearly killed my little sister..." I burst out remembering my mother expression; fear, horror and sadness. The last emotions; lingers in her eyes even today.
"Nearly!" He pointed out as the TV noise made as both jump, as the kid wrapped in a big towel sat in front of the TV while Binko jumped in his lap. A shy smile blossomed on his face, which melted my heart.
Something else made me freeze though and made Yves face go white as a ghost. He looked at me as I felt his heart slamming in his chest.
"The corpse of the nurse Ava Madison was found today in a cave. It was brought to surface by the floods after the heavy rains from the last weeks..."
I could not hear anything because in that moment Yves dropped to my feet ...
