My phone buzzed as I jolted out of my seat, looking down to see that it was just my phone. I sighed, grabbing it from the desk and reading what that buzz was for.
“Hey could we go out?” was the text that appeared.
“I mean like, out on a date- you know what I mean, right? Haha… sorry, yeah…”
I smiled a bit, rolling my eyes before actually taking in case that Gregory wanted to take me out on a date. Fuck. Well- uh, what should I say!?
I legit stood there for about ten minutes, just looking at the screen, trying to decide what to say. Eventually the sweat went down my neck and into the palms of my hands. As soon as I felt this I accidentally dropped my phone, shaking the sweat off of my fingertips before I realized that I just dropped my fucking phone. I then picked up the phone once again, trying to think of how to respond to Gregory.
I sighed once more, typing in a quick, “sure,” before immediately regretting it. I shook my head, and finally put down the phone, not dropping it this time, and getting back to my weekend work.
A few seconds later though, another buzz. I was less frightened by it this time, but still a little scared. I groaned a bit, annoyed that I was getting distracted from my work once again, but this is Gregory we’re talking about and he’s my boyfriend.
I quickly picked up my phone, only to see that it was not Gregory, but some annoying bitch- forgot his name. Oh yeah Craig that’s who.
“Uhhh, Greg isn’t respondinggggg you’re my only hope. Aaaah when are we doing the next session? I don’t remember him setting a date and aaaak. “
I groaned again, but this time even louder. He put my phone back down on the desk and went back to start my work. But too bad my work can wait because another buzz. Me, being the idiot I am, picked up the phone again, looking at who had texted me.
It was Craig again, “Johny, please! I need to know right now! This is important!”
“If it was really that important he would’ve answered, and it’s Jonathan to you,” I responded, not really caring for this idiot at all.
“Fine! Jonathan! Please help meeeee! I need it!”
“No thanks, and he didn’t answer my text either. He’s probably busy at work, leave him alone.”
“But Derrick said that he doesn’t work on Sundays!”
“Well then, I don’t know. He could be at church if he's religious.”
“Okay, I guess… if he doesn’t answer soon though I’m gonna text you again.”
“Okay,” I rolled my eyes and put down my phone one last time before getting back to work.
For hours I did many assignments and also calling up many of my patients, Brianna honestly being my favorite. The whole family’s nice I swear to God.
And then the buzz returned, my eyes darting to the phone, annoyed that I once again have to deal with the stresses of life. I picked up the phone, another text from Craig, my mind now even more annoyed than before.
“He still hAsn’t Answered!!! PleAse help meeeee!”
“Well then call him,” I advised, “he’ll probably answer to that.”
“I AlreAdy cAlled him twice!!! He didn’t Answer!”
I glared at the phone, a bit confused that somehow he was able to capitalize his a’s somehow accidentally. How do I know it’s accidentally? No one would fucking do that on purpose. “Well then call Derrick for all I care, call the fricking president!”
“Well, I’ll call Derrick and um… whatever his weirdo friend’s name is. I’ll text you again if they don’t answer.”
“DON’T.”
“Don’t what?”
“EVEN TEXT ME AGAIN YOU WASTE OF SPACE GET AWAY FroM ME.”
“Ummm, uhhh, but-”
“NO BUTS, JUST SCREW OFF.”
“Fine... “ then he finally stopped answering. FINALLY. I was just asking him to go away and now he actually did. Not nicely but he’s not very nice is he?
I went back to my work and did most of it when I stopped. I was expecting another text by now, but nothing came. I sighed and shook my head, trying to clear my head but it didn’t work. Do you think I really made him stop? Ugh, now I’m feeling bad and I hate it. I just- fine, I’ll apologize, Gregory would want me to.
“Um… are you really not gonna text me again?” I quickly texted him, instantly re-regretting it again.
“Well, I thought you didn’t want me to…”
“Uh- I’m sorry, I was just really busy.”
“It’s fine, I understand how you feel and stuff…”
“Well, did Derrick and other dude answer you? I asked, slightly being interested in his response.
“Well apparently his name is Skyler, and he answered, but Derrick didn’t.”
“What did he answer with?”
“He said that he had no idea and is also trying to contact them.”
“Well, if you really wanna know where they are, go to their house.”
“What if they’re not home!?”
“He probably is, if not then they’re probably at some anime convention.”
“I guess you’re right… but you’re gonna have to go.”
“Why me!?”
“You’re his boyfriend, you have the key, and people over there know me as a thief, I don’t wanna get arrested again.”
“AGAIN!?”
“Yeah… that was three years ago and I had to bribe Derrick to help me get out…”
“I’m gonna guess, with the money you stole.”
“You know it!”
“Fine… I’ll go, but only because I don’t want you breaking one of his windows, or his door.”
“THANK YOUUUU SOOOO MUCHHH!”
“Calm down, punk.”
“I can’t sorry. No off switch.”
“Dang, me too. Well, I’m gonna finish my work and then I’ll get there by about nine.”
“Nine PM!?”
“Yeah, work takes awhile, you said you knew and understood. I guess you’re a liar.”
“I’m not a liar!”
“Well maybe right now, but you are and I know it. I’m looking at your criminal record, sir.”
“What!? How did ya get to that!?”
“Just kidding, and I need to work, bye,” I finally put my phone down and finished my work quickly, wanting to see Gregory as fast as possible. I ran out of my office and took a jacket from the rack on the way out, it’s been pretty cold outside lately. I ran out that door as well and got in the van.
I turned on the whatever and the other whatever and I got going. Took about ten minutes to get there. After I finally got there I knocked on the door.
No answer, of course. Meaning that I had to use the key. I quickly unlocked the door and peeked inside, “Gregory?” I yelled slightly, “are you inside?”
I didn’t get an answer, so I walked inside. At first, I didn’t see anyone. A cold, dark hallway, I had to turn on the light to actually see anything.
