The room was quiet for a while before Max let out a big sigh. “This has become more complicated than I initially thought it was going to be. Well if y’all are finished with your tea, let’s go see Alphas.”
Miriam perked up, “that’s right! She can evaluate Felix’s aura and find out who he is.”
Max shook his head, “I have a funny feeling, she won’t be able to tell us that, but we do need to have Felix’s aura registered at least, and she can hook us up with a persona angel.”
“You think Felix’s aura has been wiped from the database?” Detective Karl asked.
“No. Felix is still in there somewhere, but given his situation, I believe his aura was changed but never updated in the database. Because of this Alphas won’t be able to find him, and since none of us knew him before, she won’t be able to use us to potentially find it.” Max informed the group.
My head was hurting, and I was beginning to have a really hard time following everything. Everything was coming onto me at one time and with my few regained memories, I had been reminded how long I hadn't really known who I was.
For more than a year, I didn’t know who I was. I hardly knew anything about myself because somebody decided to take it all away from me, and this someone could have been a prince. Was this a punishment? The guy in my dream had tried to tell me it was important for me not to remember so maybe this was a way to avoid a death sentence. But why? What did I do?
Max stood up and stretched followed by the rest of our group except me. I was tired from the new people, the new place and the new information. To be frank, I was scared, upset, and worried. Max was able to pick on my distress, “Are you okay?”
“I don’t know. My head really hurts, and I don’t think I want to do this anymore.” I started crying, and I couldn’t control myself.
Max sat back down next to me. He placed a hand on my shoulder and tried to comfort me. “I know. It’s a lot to take in at one time, but everything will be fine. I can tell you’re scared, but it doesn’t matter who you were before you lost your memory. It doesn’t even matter who you’ve become now.
All that matters is that you are happy with who you are. If you used to be different than you are now, then that’s okay. If you prefer the person you used to be, you can go back to that. If you prefer who you are now, stay this way. If you aren’t happy being either, change yourself.”
“How did you know that’s what was bothering me?” I asked, amazed by his accuracy.
“It’s something Guardian spirits can do when they need to. I can basically infiltrate your head and get information like your mood and what the mood is caused by. We can stay here a little longer while you calm down.” He replied as he began to rub my shoulders and my back.
“What if I was a bad guy before I had my memories taken away?” I asked.
“Well, then you were a bad guy. Doesn’t matter right now.” he answered me.
“What happens when I get my memories back? Will it matter then?”
“Depends. If you return to being a bad guy, you’ll probably be punished. If you change your ways thanks to your new experiences, you may be forgiven. But that’s nothing you need to worry about right now. You just need to focus on calming down and having faith in me.” As he finished comforting me he motioned for everyone to sit back down.
Shortly after, the goblin man with the tea reappeared and began refilling our cups. I assumed Max had called him back in to give us more tea. While sitting there, we were all silent, but somehow that made me feel better. I didn’t have to focus on what someone was saying, I didn’t have to think of a response. All I had to do was drink tea and calm down.
It took me a while to fully calm down, and I relied on Max for more comfort. When he had stopped rubbing my back, I leaned against him and let my fears melt away. Max ended up playing with my hair; it was strange how much comfort I took in one man. Just as all my fears finally worked their way out of my mind, Max gave me a quick kiss.
“Are you ready to meet Alphas?” Maxed asked me just as he pulled away from the kiss.
“Yeah. Let’s go.” I stood up and stretched.
Everyone else got up, and we all followed behind Max. This castle was huge but very pretty. Not even the movies could have done this building justice because it was so grand. We continued to walk before we finally stopped in front of a tall, wooden door. Max reached out and knocked on the door, but it almost seemed unnecessary because the door immediately opened after the first knock.
“It’s nice to see you Maximilian. It has been forever since you left the castle.” A woman greeted us with a huge grin. It was hard to tell she was a woman based on her appearance; I could only tell through her voice.
She was taller than anyone in the group by at least a head on our tallest person. Since everyone else I had met had been in their modified forms, I assumed she was as well. She was different from most of what I had seen going through the city. She had a unicorn horn in the middle of her forehead followed by long blonde hair sprouting from her head.
I almost missed it but she also had blonde hair sprouting from her hind end like a horse. Her feet were hooves, which was interesting to look at. Her eyes were a beautiful golden color, and her skin was a beautiful, unreal white that matched the color of a unicorn. Her hands were sleek, and her nails were long and pointed. Although her features weren’t near as drastic as the other spirits I had met, it was still cool to look at.
The two of them hugged each other and after releasing each other Max informed her on what he wanted her to do, “I’d like you to see if Felix’s aura is in the database although I doubt it. If possible, I’d like for you to ask a persona angel to change his aura and put it in the database.”
“Why don’t you think I can find him?” She asked him.
“It’s a bit of a story,” he informed her then continued to explain what we had discovered early in the day.
“In that case, I will try to find his aura first. Never know; he could still be there.” she commented as she approached me. “It’s nice to meet you Felix, I am Alphas Igneal of the persona clan class demon.” She put a hand on my shoulder and closed her eyes. It was a few minutes before she spoke. “He is not in the database with that aura. Felix what is your last name?”
I looked at her funny. I never really thought about it until that point, but I didn’t remember my last name. In fact, my case file had unknown written as my last name. However, I was smart enough to realize that wasn’t my last name. I answered her question, “I can’t remember.”
She let out a sigh, “That’s okay. It was only a small chance that I would have been able to find you with your name alone anyway.”
“Could you get a persona angel in here to change his aura today and add him to the database?” Max asked her.
“I can ask Danny. I believe today is his off day.” The room stayed silent before she spoke again, “he said he will come. He should be here shortly.”
I assumed she had used that telepathic communication thing that Max told me spirits did. The room stayed quiet while we waited. I took the time to look around the room. It contrasted to the rest of the castle. This room was less grand and more frilly and girly. After a while, a man stepped into the room without announcing his arrival. He looked at our group and seemed to be overly displeased.
“Hey Danny.” Alphas said as he walked up to her, “We would like you to change Felix’s aura please.”
Danny nodded his head and looked at me. The atmosphere in the room had turned really tense for some odd reason that I couldn't figure out. He walked over to me, “Nice to meet you Felix. I’m Daniel Faraday the fifth of the persona clan class angel, but you may call me Danny.” He placed a hand on my shoulder the same way that Alphas had done earlier.
The room stayed silent, and it felt like forever before he spoke again, “I can’t change it. Someone stronger than me changed it before and put a lock on it.”
Max sighed. “Damn. I was scared of that”
Danny glared at Max, "Nobody cares about what you think.”
Max growled at him, “I didn’t realize you were still a big assed cry baby.”
“Watch your mouth slut.” Danny responded to him.
Max rolled up his sleeves, “Make me, bitch.”
Danny started moving towards Max, but Alphas stepped between the two of them, “Stop it both of you. Danny, can you put Felix’s aura into the database for me?”
He looked at her, “yes. Then I’ll leave.”
“No stop. If you can’t change his aura I don’t want his current aura added. He’s in danger right now, and although only persona spirits can access the database, I don’t want to take any chances on someone working together to find him again.” Max announced.
“Fine. If that’s what you want. I hope I never see you again.” Danny snarled at Max and left the room.
“What’s his problem?” I asked once he had left the room.
Max looked at me, “You don’t need to know. It’s not important.”
Lillian began to speak, “Max and Danny used to…”
“Shut it, Lillian. You don’t need to share my life.” Max barked at her then turned to Alphas. “Thank you for your help, but it’s time to get Felix out of the spirit realm for now.”
