Landon sat on his bed, softly humming along to the music. The scolding from his sister was scary, but it was nothing compared to what was about to happen.
"Landon! Someone's here to see you!" his sister, Annie, yelled from downstairs.
Landon rolled his eyes, not ready to face humanity, "Send 'em up!" he replied lazily. He heard stomping coming toward his room. He sat up wondering 'Who the hell is it now?'
"Landon, I'm gonna say this as simple as I can. What. The. FUCK?!?" she bellowed. who, you may be wondering. Well, she was a short, blonde spitfire, also known as Landon's best friend, Lucy.
"Lucy! God am I glad to see you." he sighed sadly. Lucy saw the tear stains on his cheeks as she sat down next to him.
"Landon, what happened? Why are there rumors that you and Charlotte broke up? You guys seemed so happy." Lucy said calmly, waiting for him to reply.
"How could she do this to me Luc?" he muttered, the tears coming back in a rush.
"Do what hun?"
"CHEAT ON ME LUC! And with Nate?! Really?" he screamed. Lucy's eyes widened before she wrapped her small arms around him tightly. Landon choked on tears before letting out a sob. Lucy just sat there, comforting him without judgement. That's why they were best friends, Lucy was kind and quiet. She had a hard home life, but never compared others problems to her own. She was the 'too nice' person who was really hurt but didn't let it show.
"How'd you find out?" she cooed.
Landon sniffed, wiping his tears with his sleeve, "I went to look for her at lunch. I found her hugging him and after that I just saw red. I don't get it Luc, she told me she loved me."
"It's gonna be okay Landon." she comforted
"Will it be though?" he asked, turning to look at her.
"Yes. I'll be right here, okay?"
"Okay." Landon replied. Lucy looked calm on the inside, but trust me when I say that she. Was. RAGING! But Landon needed her now, not her anger towards Charlotte. She hugged him one last time before putting a smile on her face. Landon looked at her confused.
"You know what this means?" she acquired.
Landon shook his head, "No, am I supposed to? Wait. DON'T KILL ANYONE!" Landon gasped, making them both laugh.
" No, stupid! it means BREAKUP WEEKEND HANGOUT!" she shouted shaking him by his shoulders. Landon laughed at his crazy best friend, she always knew how to make him feel better, even when his heart was smashed into pieces. Landon hugged her tightly,
"Thanks Luc." he retorted, offering a small smile as he let her go. Lucy smiled, glad to see Landon smile again.
"Anytime hun, anytime. But you know you're getting your ass beat for hitting someone." she said in a strict, mother-like voice. Landon held his hands up in surrender,
"Please no! I already learned enough from Mr.P and Annie!" he whined.
"Sorry hun, gotta learn your lesson." Lucy snapped back playfully.
Landon couldn't wait for this weekend. Even suspension couldn't get him down now. Lucy's watch rang suddenly, startling both of them. Lucy looked down at her watch.
"Oh shit! That's Dave, sorry hun but it's date night," she quipped, " love you! get better!" she yelled as she ran out to go meet her boyfriend. Landon rolled his eyes, smiling at his dumb, love-struck bestie. Her kindness alone was enough for Landon to know he would eventually move on. And for now that would have to be enough.
