Red demon – Part One 

Days passed and I tried to distract myself, but I just couldn't stop thinking about that mysterious man. I clutched my heart and sighed, letting myself fall onto my bed. “Argh, seriously, just who is he?” Frustrated, I buried my head into a soft pillow, murmuring inaudible curses under my breath. Those eyes and that red skin... No, he was definitely no human, so a magical being with red skin, huh? Maybe a dragon shifter? A Vegmoth? Or... a red demon? I abruptly stood up.

“A red demon?” My voice was nothing but a mere whisper. I touched my chin with one hand, thinking hard. I furrowed my eyebrows, smacking myself.

“No, no, no. That's impossible, they've already gone extinct, and why the hell would one just be wandering around here anyway? That doesn't make any sense.” But the thought didn't vanish from my mind, it was somewhat tempting. Fascinating. Red demons were said to be the kings of all, a very rare kind of demonic being that had been hunted down to extinction because of the power that resided inside them. Their red-colored skin was proof of that power which was rumored to have its roots directly from the flames of hell. But there was none left at this time. They had all been killed.

I wandered from one side to another, totally lost in thoughts. “But what if some survived that massacre centuries ago? A small group of them would be more than enough to bear children with their power. If there were enough survivors, it wouldn't be that unbelievable to think that someone – maybe even just part of their species – was still roaming around here.”

My feet stopped in the middle of my room, my body now frozen still. “The probability of that isn't high, but it's not completely unthinkable.” Realizing what I had just said, my eyes widened. Determined to find out more about this man and his possible identity, I rushed outside of my chambers, on my way to the library in the south wing.

I was going to find out who or what that stranger was – even if it was just to satisfy my curiosity.
