I made a friend my freshman year of college that I was able to tell about my schizophrenia but everyone was confused about what that entailed since I haven't made a friend in years.

Mental illness seems to confuse most. Most can understand that when the body is ill, physiological things don't work quite as well. However, when when the brain is involved, most do not understand that with mental illness, cognitive and emotional processes are affected. I can get a sense of your situation and empathize with you, Schizo One. I also appreciate your perspective and your art.
