Netflix Genesis Evangelion

This is in response to people complaining about the translation in Netflix's Evangelion and articles complaining that it depicts bad relationships—Not even ONE day after it comes out!
Re: Toxic relationships: It's a show about fucked up people, directed by a guy with serious depression and mental problems...of course it's going to be fucked up. If you don't like it, watch something more American.
Re: "I like you": When Kaworu says "I like you" instead of "I love you", that's actually more accurate to the original dialogue where he says "suki" in Japanese, which literally means "like".
It's all about context though, and the meaning of the word "like" could mean he "likes" him, or it could mean he "like-likes" him. It's up to you to figure out.
This is actually a better translation than if he said "love" because it makes it more ambiguous, which is how the show was meant to be.
The creator of Evangelion even says the entire series is meant to be interpreted, and different viewers can have different interpretations, which he says "makes it very Japanese". But unfortunately, *fans* don't care about that and just want fanservice to pander to their interests.
I noticed lot of the Netflix translation is kinda bad or awkward anyway, so maybe they just rushed it since it's a 20 year old show and they already spent too much of their budget on the 'Friends' and 'The Office' licenses, and their multitude of Xmas movies and bad standup specials.
