Trigger Warning: Suicide. Bleeding, Death
Many questions swarm my mind but the light shining in the hallway distracts me. It wasn’t the bathroom light; it was too bright. I step out of the bedroom, into the hallway, and make my way towards the bathroom following the light. I try the doorknob, but it doesn’t budge.
“Hello? Tasha?”
There was no answer, so I knock and try again. I was getting a weird feeling from the room, but I had to make sure everything was okay.
“Tasha? Is someone there? Please.”
“Mason?”
Her voice is faint, but it calmed me all the same. I let out a sigh of relief and rest my head on the door. There is no movement to be heard from the other side of the door and I roll my eyes at her stubbornness.
“Come on Tasha, open the door. You know, you really had me worried.”
I reach for the doorknob again, and my heart stops in my chest, I couldn’t see my hand. My hand reached right through the door as if it weren’t even there. I snatch my hand back, and just stare at it as if- well as if it just went through a solid wood door. A soft sniffle from behind the door reminds me of why I’m here. I take a deep breath before hesitantly reaching my hands through the door again. When they go through successfully, I take a full step into the bathroom. I stare at my hands in amazement before a fleck of movement draws my attention.
Tasha was sitting there on her bathroom counter, knees tucked into her chest, and her head buried in them. Her arms were shielding her head, only leaving her curly hair on display, as she wept. I slowly make my way over to her, causing my heart to clench. It was rare to see her cry like this; she was always so strong.
“Tash?”
Her head jerks up and she looks at me with big sad brown eyes. I give her a comforting smile and she does a double take. “Mason?” She gasps out softly, “A-Are you looking at me?”
“Um…yeah?” I said taking another step, “Are you okay Tash?”
She shakes her head softly, before looking behind me and bursting into tears again. I nervously follow her gaze and immediately fall to my knees.
“No, no, no, no.” I begged crawling on my hands and knees over to the bathtub, “No, Tasha! No, please!”
I cover my mouth, trying to hold in the wails bubbling up inside my chest. A soft moan escapes anyway, and tears stream down my face.
“What are you doing here Mason?” I hear her ask softly
I grab her arm searching for a pulse. Her eyes are dim, and lifeless, her arm move with no resistance at all. There is blood staining the tub and the clothes she was wearing. Her forearms were sliced open, still leaking into the murky water.
“I watched myself die.” She said softly, “I didn’t think it would happen like this at all.”
“Tasha. Why?”
“Mason don’t-“
“Tash, I’m starring at your lifeless body in a b-bathtub.” I said, a sob falls out of my mouth and I try to regain my breath, “I’d like to know why, before rumors get involved.”
“You’re handling it better than I thought. Looks like you didn’t need me so much after all.” She chuckles but there’s no humor behind it
“Tash-“
“No!”
I turn around to face her, releasing the body’s hand to look at the figure behind me. I can see pain in her eyes and hate in her tears. Her mouth twisted into a scowl before her lips began to tremble. I stand and walk over to her. I can feel warm light surrounding her and she looks up to me. She shakes her head, before slapping the counter.
“Mason.” She whispers suddenly, “I’m scared.”
