Steph nestled into Will's broad shoulders and sighed. This last summer was hard. Steph had made hardly any new friends at her first year of college and had decided that needed to change. Unfortunately, culture at Brigham Young University meant if a man and a woman were hanging out, it was a date. Steph had never had much luck making friends with other women, but was always very popular with men. Men were more fun! But in order to have the social life she wanted, she had to officially break up with Will earlier than they had planned. Having a long-distance boyfriend was making her feel incredibly isolated.
Will was headed out to serve a mission for their church. For the last three years, they had known that this break up was coming. That didn't make it hurt any less. And it didn't make Will any less jealous. All summer long, Will and Steph had argued and fought. Will wanted Steph to make more time for him, so they could talk whenever his mother would allow him to call. Steph wanted Will to schedule times to talk, just like they would have scheduled dates if they weren't a thousand miles apart. Will didn't like that all of Steph's new friends were men. Steph didn't like that Will wouldn't trust her judgement. Nearly every time they had talked for the last three months, it had ended in an argument.
None of that mattered now, though. Steph was visiting home and spending as much time with Will as she possibly could before he went to the Missionary Training Center next week. As soon as she saw him, all the frustration from the last few months had melted away. Will's bright blue eyes and goofy smile made Steph's heart flutter, just like they always had. These next two years would fly by and they would be together again. Steph knew it in her heart. Nothing and no one could possibly change her mind that they were soul mates.
