This is a bit different from the usual comics but I hope you like it. We moved around a lot and it meant constantly being the new kid and never having a consistent friend group. I was very awkward and scared that I would never have friends so I did everything to try and fit in - generally meaning pretending to like everything someone else liked. It took me a while to figure out that it meant people didn’t actually get to know me and I would come off as fake or just end up lonely pretending to be someone I’m not. Something I learnt is that having different interests and opinions from your friends isn’t always a bad thing. Being honest to yourself is important. I’m still working on that, but I’ve gotten better.
That was a major regret in life, telling the boy I liked that I too loved sports. It became the whole basis of our friendship because he thought it was cool that a girl was into sports, I'd fake my way through conversations so good he was none the wiser. Then I moved away and was kinda glad not to have to keep it up anymore.
