I had come to School with a hangover. I don't think that I need to say more, cause it even sounds unpleasant. The baseball team wanted to throw a before-school party, and I now think that it sounds very stupid. I regret everything. Technically, Its impossible to get a hangover for anyone here, so maybe it's just the smell that's been following me around. It's been happening since Saturday. Today is Monday, by the way, and I have had this headache since we left that bakery.
I came to my first class early with some guys from the basketball team. It was debate, and I sort of just took it because I thought it would be easy. I also took art, the music one, a dance class, one with tools, engineering class, home economics, mandatory Omega and Alpha class, and a bunch of others. Math and English alter days. My head is still pounding, and this dude keeps telling me stupid jokes. I want to punch him. The jerk keeps talking, and my head is still pounding. I let out a low growl, but the moron keeps talking. I have nothing against the guy, but his voice is f*cking annoying.
The door slams open, and my headache vanishes. The sweet smell is back, and I was sitting straight up. I looked to the door, but no one was there. Confused, I look around the room for a new face. I found one, and it was round. Chubby, freckles, dark but light at the same time, he was really short, full lips, and eyes. I didn't bother with the rest of him, because his eyes. Oh, god. Please help me. His eyes were gorgeous. They were captivating. I have seen the most beautiful thing in the world. No other girl or boy can compare. Sorry mom, I think that he has you beat too. Just by a bit.
Right behind him was Rachel. Rachel was a girl I had messed around with during the summer. She was a really nice girl, but became clingy too quickly. She smirked at me, walking over and sitting on my lap. I easily push her off, still watching the boy. The teacher kept calling him Al, and they seemed very close. She had hugged him, and kissed him on the cheek. They were just talking, and a small trickle of students started flowing in. They were sort of segregated. Omegas on one side, Alphas and Betas on the other. It was kind of annoying. I was away from all the cute little Omegas, and had to sit by muscly Alphas and Betas. They were always grunting and punching each other. Rachel sat with us though, and was holding onto my arm.
The bell rung, and the boy went to his seat. He wasn't afraid to march over and sit in front of one of my Betas. The Beta didn't mind, and kept talking to his friends. The teacher cleared her throat multiple times, and when no one stopped, she screamed. Everyone was now paying attention, and the teacher smiled sweetly.
"Ok everyone," She started, clearly an Omega, "Today, we are going to argue about ranks and the downsides!" She was very excited about this subject, and clapped as she finished.
"So, first each rank has to pick a rep., then we can start!" She was still very excited, and the class roared up again to discuss the debate.
"Hey, Alpha, feel like being a Rep.?" another weaker Alpha asked. I just nodded, knowing this was coming. I had seniority. The other groups were loud, and it seemed that the boy had joined his rank. He was with the Omegas. They all seemed to be talking to him.
"Ok class, settle down. You should have picked a Rep., so please send them up here." She smiled widely, and it sort of ticking me off. I hate positive people, it makes me feel more crappy about my life. I trudged up to the front, where she had three podiums ready.
"Anyone start whenever you're ready," She sat down at her desk with a notebook in hand. She was gonna take notes for our grad.
"I think that people let ranks get to their head, and they have ruined our world." It was a bold statement from the Omega, and I felt like it was directed more towards Alphas.
"Why do you feel like that?" I turn towards him, but the Beta is in the way. She was also looking at him.
"Well, Alphas are automatically given whatever they want, Betas are used for their tactics, Gammas seers and shaman are able to do whatever they want, because they aren't useful enough to the Alpha to be around 24/7, but they all get to what they want, because they like to bear their teeth, and demand power." It was a lot to take in, and he covered most of the ranks. I was surprised, because we were usually only mentioned in three. That's why there are a lot of Betas.
"What about Omegas?" My gut was telling me this was a mistake, and I knew I was gong to regret this.
"Well, Omegas weren't really given anything to go to their heads." His words were harsh and low. He was obviously very opinionated about this matter, but I needed to know why.
"What do you mean? Omegas get to do whatever they want! They don't have to make any appearances, no fighting, and barely have to do any chores!" Now I was getting angry. He was accusing us of something, I knew it.
"We do make appearance, sorry if we aren't eye-catching enough, we fight everyday, and we do all of the chores!" He shot back, his voice still low but dangerous.
"You guys are never saying anything important! All you do is put on fancy expensive things, and smile! You guys never have any scars, and all I ever see you dong is sitting around sleeping!" I felt my anger grow. How dare he accuse us of belittling them? We treated them like kings and Queens.
"We don't say anything, because we're told to be quiet. We dress up, because you like to show us off. We do it so you don't throw us away like everyone else that isn't useful anymore-" I had had enough, my anger finally boiling over.
"We do not 'throw' people away. W don't show off, and we definitely, do not keep you quiet." My voice had been raised significantly, and I let out a low growl at the end, warning him.
"See, that's what I mean. You threaten us, blaming it on us, because we didn't submit, but you are the one that needs to be put in your place. You think that having some muscles helps you out. I've been in fight too! I know how to fight! I am not scared of you!" He had walked up to me, and was jabbing my chest with the last word. we were glaring at each other, and I opened my mouth but was cut off.
"That is quite enough boys! I think you both have... Valuable points, but lets put an end to this, yes?" She had intervened at the perfect time, because right now I really hated his beautiful eyes. "Who do you think won, class?" she was still trying to get between us, and the Omega moved away willingly. Me, not so much.
Each rank had voted for their rep.. Except the Betas. Their rep. hadn't said anything, so they had to pick between us. Most of them picked the Omega, but a few of the scared ones picked me. After the vote, the teacher told the class what we did right, and what we did wrong. In the middle of it, I caught the Omegas eye, and he had the audacity to smirk at me! I let out a growl that successfully scared the kids around me, and he just kept smirking. Rachel had started clinging to me again, but I was not thinking about her. The teacher had started about how we got in each others faces just as the bell rang.
I need to figure out his name.
