Every 6 weeks, the president over the mission makes adjustments to where missionaries in the mission serve and who they get paired up with into companionships.
No joke, my mission president kept a top-secret "Transfer Board" that had a matrix of every missionary in the mission crossed with every other missionary in the mission, as well as potential cities they might serve in. I can only imagine the kind of stuff that must've been written about me on that thing...
