I keep walking, trying to ignore her but our eyes meet and lock in together. Her eyes brighten, and her mouth opens to say: “OH MY GOSH! You look so CUTE in that outfit!!!” Ugh! My heart!
“Thank you!” I say, trying to not sound like I’m going crazy.
She grabs my hands, clearly not shy, and says, “Please come eat with us! You’re so cute! I’d love to get to know you and where you got your suit!”
I tell her about Willow’s store. Another customer for Willow, check! She stares at me, smiling so sweetly as if though she can do no wrong in this world. She pulls one side of her hair behind her ear, staring at me with her head slightly tilted. Her boyfriend, however, is not having a good time. “We don’t have time to hang out, we have to go.”
“Oh come on! Don’t be a party pooper! Let’s hang out for a little bit!” She grabs my hand again and takes me to find a shop. Her boyfriend, unhappy with the situation, follows.
We finally sit down to eat and we chat and laugh so hard! It’s like we’ve known each other for a long time, and yet, I know that soon this will come to an end. Her boyfriend is glaring at me. He clearly doesn’t like me. I wonder why? Maybe...gasp...I smile. Maybe he sees me as a potential threat! Oh how my hopes just shot up tenfold! Alright, I think to myself, let’s test this theory out. I start to flirt with her a little. She responds well, a little too well. Her boyfriend, fed up with this, stands up. “We’re leaving.”
“But I’m not done talking yet!” She says.
“I don’t care, we’re done here!” He grabs her by the arm and pulls her up from her seat.
“Wait! What’s your name?” I ask in a hurry as her boyfriend drags her away.
“Haley! My name’s Haley!” He pulls her along as she looks back at me, waving lightly, disappointment showing on her face.
Sigh. Will I ever get to see her again? I doubt it…
