The Alpha ushered it’s distressed mate through the long hallway and toward the smell of it’s nest. The Omega followed without protest slowly strolling along with a soft smile as if it hadn’t just tried to kill someone moments prior. The Alpha couldn’t help but let out a small rolling growl of approval at the ferocity of its mate. His Omega was a fighter, and the Alpha couldn’t be more pleased.

As they got closer to the lingering smells of heat and nesting Omega, the Alpha pulled it’s mate closer, burying the small face into the scent gland at his neck. The Omega compiled without protest, starting to softly purr as it took in the scent of mates’ calming pheromones. Without even a moment of struggle, the Alpha scooped up the Omega bridal style and softly pushed his head back into the crook of his neck to keep him calm. The purring intensified and the small Omega seemed to melt in his arms.

It made the Alpha feel at ease.

This was the way things were supposed to be, he could feel it. His own pleased growling intensified as he looked down at the Omega in his arms. His true mate. The growling intensified more.

The Alpha couldn’t figure out why he hadn’t mated it’s Omega yet. Somewhere, deep in its mind, he knew there was a reason, but the Alpha couldn’t find it in this moment with his mate in his arms and pressed against his bonding glands. He could almost feel himself salivating at the idea of returning his Omega to it’s nest and completing their bond.

He nearly kicked the door to the hospital room down, now excited to finally take his mate properly in the nest that he could smell on the other side. He entered the room swiftly and paused in confusion. There was no nest here and yet he could smell the Omega’s lingering heat and nesting instincts in the air beckoning him.

The moment of confusion from the Alpha was all that Kai needed to take control of his body back.

Kai glanced around and took stock of his situation for a moment before being shocked by a light nipping at his neck. The sensation caused his breath to hitch and goosebumps to spread along his entire body. He wanted desperately to lose himself in the sensation, but knew that it would be a terrible idea. He walked over towards the hospital bed and attempted to put Azaki down and failed.

Azaki was clinging to him tightly, running his wrists on any exposed flesh in a marking attempt, and outright refusing to let the Alpha move more than a few inches away from him. Any attempt that Kai made to let go of Azaki made the man let out a distressed whine that Kai couldn’t stop himself from desperately wanting to make stop. The light nips on his neck continued, followed by soft kisses and a long sloppy lick up the entire left side of his neck that almost dropped Kai to his knees on the spot.

Instead, he lowered himself into a sitting position on the side of the hospital bed with his Omega in his lap, trying his best to keep himself under control until someone came to save him or Azaki got control of himself.

“Azaki,” Kai softly cooed softly, hoping that getting Azaki speaking could help him get control of his inner Omega. “Azaki?”

“Al-pha” He whined back, almost pleading while looking up into Kai’s eyes. His pupils were completely blown out with lust, his expression was hazy, his hair was tousled and messy, and it was the sexiest thing Kai had ever seen in his life. He inhaled sharply at the look he was getting, almost losing himself to his instinct again. His Omega kissed sloppily along his jaw and chin teasingly, clearly trying to get his attention but he couldn't.

Wouldn’t.

Luckily, as Kai’s resolve was crumbling, the door to the room opened once more. Maynard entered the room and closed the door behind him, making a point to keep his distance from the two. Kai and Maynard locked eyes and the Doctor raised a questioning eyebrow in his direction.

“What’s up, Doc?” Kai jokes. Maynard sighed deeply and did not laugh.

“How is he?” Maynard replied, all business while clinically looking the two over.

“Not sure, honestly.” Kai gave Azaki a small pet on his head in an attempt to get his attention. Azaki responded only by nuzzling further into Kai’s neck, again sending an uncomfortable shiver right up his spine at the action. He’d scented and been scented before by the members of the board, but with his Omega it was much more intense.

It was like liquid fire was coursing through his veins. He was being fully immersed in the scent of his mate as if their two separate bodies were fighting to merge into one. It was a hot, possessive, and passionate feeling. Instinctual and primal in its force upon him. He was unable to breathe properly, feeling calm and wound up at the same time. He was feeling something bubbling beneath the surface, like his Alpha was warring with him for control again.

It really needed to stop before he lost control.

“Maynard,” Kai almost pleaded while tearing his eyes away from the beautiful Omega in his lap. “Help.”

The Doctor nodded once and approached the two. He watched Azaki finally draw his attention away from the Alpha and toward him. He looked furious and was making as close a noise to a growl that an Omega could make. Maynard was taken aback, but made no attempts to stop. There was no way Kai would let Azaki attack him right now.

“Azaki, I’m not here to take your mate.” Maynard whispered, hoping that the gentle conversation would help to clear his head. He didn’t know what he expected, but it wasn’t this. Azaki replied to him in a cold and sarcastic tone.

“Like you could,” Azaki paused a moment to scent the air, “Beta.”

Kai laughed. “He is so fierce. I think I am in love.”

“Alpha.” Azaki preened and wiggled in his lap, happy at the praise. Maynard was not amused.

“Exactly, a beta like me could never take him from you. So can we talk?” He kept his tone level and calm, trying to keep the situation from spiraling out of control. Azaki frowned.

“What?” Azaki mumbled while trying to lick at Kai’s face again, only to be stopped with a hand firmly on his forehead. He made a whining noise and Kai chuckled.

“Azaki, please listen to him, it’s important.” Kai murmured. The Omega huffed in annoyance.

“Azaki, I need you to focus for me okay?” Maynard bent down on the ground in front of the hospital bed where the two were sitting, trying to keep everything about his body language and tone neutral. When Aki turned back to him he saw, for just a moment, a flash of recognition cross his face. This was a good sign that Azaki was getting control of his body back. “That’s a good Alpha you found, my friend.”

“I don’t want an Alpha.” Azaki replied before looking confused at his own words. Kai tightened but didn’t speak.

“No? But you sure are clinging to this one.”

“This one is mine.”

“Doesn’t that make you his omega?”

“I’m not an Omega.” Azaki frowned at his own words and finally it seemed like the haze in his mind was clearing. The two just stared at each other for a moment before realization crossed his beautiful face. “Oh.”

It was a matter of seconds before Azaki was scrambling off Kai’s lap and blushing furiously in the corner of the room. His hoodie was back in place and his nose was pressed against the corner of the room, Azaki making no attempt to hide that he was hiding in embarrassment.

“Aki.” Maynard said softly.

“Sorry.” Aki mumbled, making no attempt to leave his spot.

“It’s fine, don’t be sorry. This is normal.”

“No, this is fucked up.” Aki had now buried his face in his hands, his distress obvious even though his voice was barely audible “Please fix me.”

Kai visibly shuddered and frowned at his words like they’d stabbed him right in the chest.
