Cecilia looked at her phone to see she had a missed call, she wasn't worried when she saw the caller ID, though. Opening her phone she noticed a voice message was left for her, giving a concerned look she put the phone to her ear to listen,
“Cecilia, I'm so sorry. It was a mistake, please don't hate me.” * to reply this message press-*
Tossing her phone to the side, burying her even farther in her own self potty, the guilt made her want to cry.
Later that day, after school,
Hope came looking for me, sitting in her room Cecil tried to forget about the message she got earlier. A ring and a knock at the door, and no answer. Mom was out talking with a friend, and Cecil felt too upset to get out of bed, but once more there was a ring followed by a knock. When there was still no response, I hoped to try a third time, but a little more aggressively. Cecil’s ears felt as though they would fall right off when she heard the bell being ring over, and over. Then there were loud bangs on the door added to, what sounded like a church bell on a farm at dinnertime- not very pleasant. Dying to make it stop Cecil jumped from her bed, and ran right to the door, swinging it open- nearly breaking the frame,
“ OH MY GOD! WHAT!?”
A breath of relief flowed out of hope, as though it was her last if the door wasn’t answered, “ i came to see you, and to say-” Cecil put her hand to stop her from finishing,
“ Look, I got your message. I’m sorry I didn't come to school, but I don't know how to deal with this.”
“ Cecilia, please just let me finish-”
“ NO, you listen. You are my best friend, and I trusted you with my life- why? Just why?” her voice wavered from the stress, it was a little easier- she doesn't have to look her in the eyes, but still unsettling.
“ Cecilia-”
“ for God's sake! Would you stop using my full name! It sounds super weird to hear it from you.”
Hope chuckled a little bit- it was a bit weird for her to hear herself say it, and Cecil let out a sigh.
“ So, you’re gay?”
“ uh, yeah. Do you hate me now?”
“ why? Because you’re gay?”
“ well-”
“ Are you kidding me? I couldn’t care less who you are attracted to, it was the fact that you kissed me out of nowhere! You know that i have a crush on-”
“ Wait, you have a crush?”
“ I talk about him all the time, how could you not know?”
“ Well, when a boy’s name is mentioned I don't really listen. So, what’s his name?”
“Well- wait, no. I'm still mad at you.”
“ That's why I came, to ask for forgiveness. I know what I did was wrong, and there is no excuse, but I never intended to ruin our friendship.”
“ you kissed me, how did you- wait, did you think i was gay?”
“ not GAY, but maybe bi-” Cecil held her hand out to take a second to process the situation, then getting upset over something different,
“ I can not talk to you right now, you should probably go.”
“ Cecil, I'm sorry! I didn’t mean to hurt-” her words begin shortened by a door shut in her face. Hope didn’t know what was going to happen between them, but she did know that it would never be the same as before.
