After school, I hope to go back to Cecil’s. This time no one came to the door, not answered calls, not texts back. Hope was destroyed, her heart crushed. Another voicemail buzzed on Cecilia’s phone, but she wasn't ready to swallow her pride. The time had come for her to go back to school, and it was as if her memory had been whipped! Asking for her seat in the homeroom, going to the library for lunch, making new friends. Hope faded out of Cecilia’s life completely, months had passed and the summer came. Girls hugging in groups as they make empty promises to stay in touch, while hope walked home alone- not a single name signed in her yearbook. The summer had begun when the first al bell rang, but time just didn't move anymore for hope. getting home, she hurried to her room, the house was empty. Her bed was cold on her checks- it was almost comforting. Five minutes of thinking of a three months of doing nothing, she got up and reached for her backpack to burn all evidence of any education. Right before leaving her room she got a ring on her phone,
“ hello?”
“ hey honey, look- I’m not going to make it home early tonight, so no parties, there’s food in the fridge. Don’t eat too many sweets, okay?”
“ okay. Oh, mom!”
“ Yes dear?”
“ can i leave the house for a bit, to get some things-”
“ thing? What things are you trying to get?”
“ just some things to clean up my school stuff-”
“ Fine, just don’t burn anything, okay?”
“ Okay, I won't.”
It was a lie, of course. A lie that ruined her life.
