It was close to midnight when hope's mother got a call,

“ hello?”

“ Are you the guardian of hope rogers?”

“ Yes I am, what's wrong?”

“ well, you daughter thought it would be fun to burn her school supplies-”

“ she did what!?”

“ Yes well, there's been a fire.”

“ Dear God, can I speak to my daughter, please?”

“ Well, that was the other thing. Your daughter has been taken to the hospital in an ambulance-”

“ wait! Is she breathing? Is she going to live?!”

“ she wasn't responsive when we found her, but we do believe she was trying to commit suicide.”

“ I'm on my way.”

“ we will meet you at the hospital, there are some people that you need to speak to, regarding housing, insurance, etc..”

“ Alright, I'll be there as soon as I can.”

Meanwhile, at Cecil’s.

Her mom goes to her room to tell the news, “ hey sweetie, I know you aren't talking to hope anymore but I think you might wanna know-”

“ no, I don't wanna know.”

“ Listen this is serious, and you should hear it!”

“ What could have happened to her that is so serious?”

“ her house went up in flames, and she's hospitalized!”

“ oh.” also as if she had been hit by something, her face turned pale. Her mom was detailed, but she couldn't respond. Memories flashed, and the guilt she had pushed to the back of her mind came rushing like a typhoon.

“ Do you wanna go see her?”

I don't even remember if I answered the question, but all I remember was sitting by her side. Her face was burned- it was really hard for others to look to look at but I didn't leave, I'm not sure if she could hear me but I would take to her all the time- asking questions, mostly. Although i knew they wouldn't be answered i kept asking, and I truly believed that when she woke up everything would go back to the way they were, but I was sorely mistaken.
