The next morning, hope awoke to the delightful smell of breakfast. She had slept on Cecil’s room floor, it was almost like old times.

“ Wakey wakey! Eggs and bakey!” Lee called out from the kitchen.

A small grind grew on hope’s face as the memory of last night replied in her mind. Her mom wakes up, walking passed the living room into the kitchen,

“ Good morning, what a beautiful day.” she said cheerfully.

“ I hope you had a good night’s rest, Franny.” Lee smiled.

“ It was so good, I almost couldn’t get out of bed.” she chuckled, “ i should go wake to girls-”

“ no, stay. They can get up on their own, plus I could use some help in the kitchen.”

“ Well, if you insist,” he giggled.

While upstairs, Cecil was still asleep, so hope decided not to wake her. She was about to head down stairs, looking over at Cecil asleep, she couldn't help but be amazed at how cute she was when she sleeps. Pulling out her phone, and snaps a quick picture. Though to her surprise, Cecil’s eyes had opened.

“ I heard that. You just took a picture of me.”

“ i- i just-”

“ God, I thought we could try to get along, but you just had to go and do some creepy thing.”

“ it’s just a picture.”

“ whatever.” she gets up, and feels her way around hope. She grabs her walking stick, and makes her way downstairs to get some breakfast, she hears her mom, and hope’s mom giggling in the kitchen,

“ mom! Can I just have carrots?” getting closer to the kitchen the giggles go louder, her mother didn’t answer but she could hear her talking- whispering, more like. She could just barely make out what they were saying

“ just a little bit more, it’ll be good.”

“ but the girls should be up soon, they’re gonna want to eat as soon as they get up.”

“ oh come on, sour puss-”

“ hey-”

Cecil called from the living room,

“ mom?” she hears some rustling as she walks into the kitchen.

“ Cecil? Uh, hey Hun. Good morning.”

“ Good morning cecilia.”

“ Hey guys. Mom, can I just get some carrots?”

“ uh, sure honey. They’re in the refrigerator, top corner, left side.”

“ okay thanks” she starts to walk toward the fridge, but slips on something; food, that had fallen on the floor. In an instant of self-preservation, she throws out her arms in an attempt to catch her fall. Her body leans to the side, there was a loud slapping sound.

“ You okay?” Francine asked.

“Yeah, but what is this?” she began to stroke the surface her hand had landed on.

“ That's my lap.” Francine replied.

Cecil quickly bounces back, “ I’m sorry, i didn’t-”

“ i-it’s okay, I'm not hurt or anything.”

Hope soon walked in, and was a little surprised,

“ mom? Why is there fruit on your shoulder?”

No one spoke a word. This morning was starting to make for an eventful day.
