Miguel slowly sunk into a new daily schedule, get ready for school, hang out with Evan before school, then Eric during school. Then he went back home, slowly melt into his bed because high school was exhausting.
There were few irregularities to his schedule, one came on the 17th (14 days to big reveal).
The day started as it did every day since he received the letter detailing he would find out, wake up, change the number on his whiteboard counting down to the end of the month (while blushing). Then he made/ate breakfast, and headed out to school. As soon as Miguel pulled up at school (½ an hour before he needed to be there) he headed to the library, and looked for a now-familiar blond head.
As soon as Miguel saw Evan, in the back of the library, he walked towards him, and sat down at the circular table Evan had claimed.
“Good morning!” Evan said as both sleep and contentment carried through in his voice.
“And right back at you,” Miguel said with a chuckle, though why he chuckled was a mystery, even to himself. “Did you do the power of map’s essay?”
“Ummmmm….”
“Dude, it’s only a page and due today!” Miguel said ‘tsking’ his tongue.
“I did all but the last paragraph, will you read through it for me? Pretty please!?” Evan said, his eyes wide, and sparkling. “Come on, please! You are like a freaking writing genius, please!”
“It’s called being a year ahead in English not a genius, you give me too much credit, jeez. Yeah, I will read over it, but not because you are buttering me up.” Miguel said, sighing at Evan’s procrastinating habits. “Send it to me.”
“You really are the best, you know that?” Evan said with a grin on his face.
“Yeah I know,” Miguel said smirked back.
Once Miguel started reading the assignment he admitted to himself, it was absolute shit. It said everything in spoken word English instead of written, and Evan seemed to leave the ideas half-finished, in a very unsatisfactory way.
While Evan focused on his last paragraph, Miguel added an extra sentence or two to the end of each paragraph, and changed the phrasing to correct grammatical phrasing, or as Evan’s essay would put it ‘Miguel put the write word in the write places.’
As soon as Miguel finished, well, fixing Evan’s Essay he got up, patted Evan on the back, making his heart beat faster at the contact with whom he believed to be Elm and said with caring sass, “Make sure you read through my edits, and they still make sense to you, or change them back to how they were, good luck finishing that last bit up, you damn procrastinator.”
“You are truly magic, thanks again! I owe you some pumpkin pie, and will bring some!” Evan promised, as he always did, though he still was yet to deliver on.
Miguel hurriedly walked to his classroom, although he knew the class wouldn’t start for a few minutes, he wanted to say good morning to Eric, who was basically his soul sibling, they understood each other so well, if Miguel didn’t talk to him before class he would be crabby during class.
