this type of scene is said to be really cliche, but honestly i haven't ever even seen one. maybe i just didn't read enough of the older shoujo mangas, because those are jam packed with cliche-ness.

It's in a lot of books and in lots of animes as well when the girls are scared of or don't like a guy but when they see the guys being sweet or have a soft spot they change their minds about them in a heart beat
