"Well, despite having a little setback, look at all the cash we made!" Mark put up the mission slip into the slot and the reward screen popped up, with the amounts that we all got for the mission. "Who would have thought that floppy wrist was the traitor?" Jackson nudged the ecstatic Mark over to the side and opened a new screen. Upcoming missions, and how high they rank. I wandered over to the water station and got cups of water for me, Hunter, and Hugh. They were in a tense conversation about something, Hunter had that sly smile on his face and Hugh was blushing so hard it was possible that he had ruptured a blood vessel. I cleared my throat and the boys quickly looked away from each other. I sat down in between the two of the one the couch and propped my feet up on the end table. The exhaustion of the kick was started to hit me again. Both sides of my head were throbbing with the anger of a drunk Jackson after a failed mission. I could feel Hunter snake his arm around me, and Hugh's arm reaching to meet his. I smiled slightly and fell asleep to the conversation of whose turn it was to use the screens.
"Posy, wake up. Poooooossssyyyyyyy. It's late," I opened one eye to see who was whispering in my ear. Hunter, Hugh, and Sala were all standing above me, but Hunter and Sala were clearly gossiping about something juicy. Hugh nudged me a little harder. "Posy, I wanna sleep and I'd feel guilty leaving you out here to get all cold,"
"I wouldn't!" Hugh shot Hunter a dirty looked, and Sala shoved Hunter closer to Hugh. I groaned and stood up. Sala wrapped one of her arms around me, the four of us walked back to the hallway with the group's rooms. Sala walked me to my room, while Hugh and Hunter mysteriously disappeared into the dark of the poorly lit hallway.
"I was afraid that you'd trip over your own feet, Clumsy,"
"Thanks, Sala. I thought tonight was a, um, group night," Sala swatted my arm with a light laugh. I squeezed her hand and let it fall down. I opened my door, wishing her goodnight and shutting the door behind me with a satisfying click. My room was the coziest of the group's, in my humble opinion. I realized a long time ago that despite all the money we might earn, the government would have our souls forever, so why not spend it on something to make my stay more enjoyable?
