*RING* *RING* (A girl enters from the laundry room. She has long brown hair tied gently back. She is wearing a black sweater and straight leg work pants. The only color contrasting is her alabaster skin and pale blue tennis shoes. She rushes around an 'L' shaped counter to answer the phone. These actions take three seconds. She has been waiting.)

Girl: Hello, this is _____________. How may I help you?

Voice on Phone- Yes, I have no hot water in my room.

Girl: Okay, I can call a manager and see what needs to happen. I will call you back. (She hangs up and dials the manager. Each number pushed is more panicked than the last. This is her first time dealing with a customer.) Hello, _________ I have room 216, they say the water is cold. (She pauses. Writing something on a notepad. This exchange takes a few minutes, before she hangs up.) I have to ask if it is the shower or sink. (She reassures herself.)

(She once again turns to the phone. She presses a button to connect her to 216. She waits. Nobody answers. She hangs up and turns to her notes. Unsure how to proceed she phones the room again. The first ring, nothing.The sixth. Nobody has answered. She begins to shuffle papers unsure how to deal. She is new to the job. In her early 20s. She does not know what to do.)

(The girl leaves. The camera shifts to the outside. The back courtyard, where the rooms connect in an 'L' shape, are not lit well. We can only see her legs and the edge of the door and barely into the room.)

Girl:(Knocks once. She waits two seconds. The door opens and a pair of legs with white socks stand in the doorway. They step out of frame and the door is wide open. Faint music and the TV can be heard along with lights shining brightly.) I called my manager. She asked me to ask if you weren't getting hot water from the sink or shower.

Man: (Pause) Oh, well I guess I could check. (The man is gone for a minute. The very faint noise of water are heard. He comes back into view) Both are cold. I'm sure you could check if you wanted.

Girl: (Laughs as if being forced) No, let me call my manager then get back to you. I will call you on the phone.

7:45 PM

Girl: (On phone with her manager) I don't see anything wrong with the boiler. Look when I tried to call him back he didn't answer and if I was in his position. I would have called back. I'd want to take a shower right away. No okay. So what sh- (Another patron enters.)

Other man: (In a french accent) Yes, I would like to have wake up calls for my crew at 5:30.

Girl: Okay (Hears something on the phone) Oh, could you check and see if your room has hot water?

Other man: Okay. (He leaves)

8:00 PM

Girl: Hello, this is the front desk asking you about your hot water? Okay, thank you and your wake up calls will be at 5:30. Yes, _________ he said there was nothing wrong with his water. Call them back. Okay, thank you so much. This has been so anxiety inducing. Okay goodbye.

(216 does not answer.)

8:22 PM

Girl: Hello.

Voice on Phone: Yes, my water is warm now.

Girl: I called my manager and they said that maintenance couldn't get here till the morning.

Voice: How am I supposed to take a shower?

Girl: (Repeating the note she left) You can see if you know anybody on the premises to let you take a shower. I can call them and have the shower cleaned for you.

Voice: (Agitated) How can you rent a room if the water doesn't work.

Girl: I am sorry. I can't do anything except call my manager back. I will call you back if I have any new information.

Voice: Don't be like that.

Girl: I'm sorry sir.

9:45 PM

The girl leaves to wash dishes in the back. A man silently enters and stows away in the laundry room. When the girl finishes the dishes, the camera cuts to the front desk area. She locks both doors. The front and back unaware of the person. She calls her Fiance.

Girl: Hey do you think you can come early? (She hangs up more relaxed.)

The girl unaware, with her back turned towards the laundry room. She is counting the cash drawer in full view of the camera nothing nearby to obstruct the camera's view. She is helpless when occupant 216 drags her backwards. He has kicked her legs out from under her and wrapped his arm around her neck choking her. They disappear into the darkness.

10:30 PM

He exits. She is not to be seen. His face is obscured and almost blurred out. He gives a little wave at the camera. It shuts off after that.
