Onyx Nickoli
Onyx tried to put the curiosity of the scene in the woods out of his head. That was before he went to school and everybody was talking about a student gone missing. He grinned himself. Only I know about the evidence. He didn't tell the police. Reason #1: He wasn't on good terms with the local police. Reason #2: He didn't care. Reason #3 He was thinking of investigating himself. For the sake of an adventure. The fun. The danger. But how should I start? He waited (impatiently) until after school. Then, he went back to the spot with the knife and imprint in the dirt. He did the obvious thing; he followed the trail of drag marks.
Whoever did this was stupid as fuck because, like, really? They left a knife and marks in the dirt. Amateurs. If you're going to kidnap somebody, do it right. He debated on picking up the knife, but he already carried three much better ones on the various places of his body. The drag marks eventually led to a dirt road. A road in the middle of the woods? How do people not notice this? He saw tire tracks. He didn't have a car to follow them with. He could go back to borrow a friend's, but he got the strange feeling that if he left this road, he wouldn't be able to find it again.
He shook his head and decided to walk as long as he could. His parents wouldn't care if he was gone for days. Onyx could go a long time without food, and he had some water in a bottle that latched onto the belt loop of his jeans. He walked and ran on the hidden road for 6 hours. He didn't want to admit it, but he was about to drop to the ground from exhaustion. He curled up on the ground beside the road and forced himself to sleep.
When he woke, it was dark. He pulled out his phone to check the time, but when he turned it on and unlocked it, it went absolutely nuts. It flashed dozens of colors then shut off. It had been messing up for days now, but not that badly. Coincidentally, it started the day the fire incident took place. He began running/walking again. Three hours later, he was ready to turn back. Just as he was about to, some small, human-like shape came practically flying down the road. In less than a second, he had two knives in his hands. He tensed and tackled the shape to the ground. He heard it-she-shriek. He straddled the small girl with a knife at her throat. She was looking down the road with a panicked expression on her face. Finally, she looked up at him in the eyes. Onyx jerked backwards, almost passing out from what seemed like electricity slammed into his body. Judging by her yelp, she felt it too. He refused to think it was some movie-like soulmate shit. No way. Her eyes were really pretty though. A mesmerizing purple. He couldn't look away. He didn't realize he'd come so close to her face that their noses were touching until he suddenly heard loud voices down the road. He jerked back and got to his feet. He thought about fighting, but it sounded like a lot of people. Then he heard a voice that caught his attention. "Spread out! Find her quickly, I can't believe you idiots let her get away. She's like a mouse!" Onyx made a split-second decision. He scooped up the small purple-eyed girl and ran.
