Soon after the First Light came the Angel of the New Dawn. Valistiel too was of Light, the same light of his eldest brother. He was born first without form. Without form, like light and darkness; Valistiel was everywhere but at the same instant somewhere. The energy that radiated originally from the source of their creation was similar to that the fire used of a blacksmiths forge. The flame of cosmic ethereal energy consumed the formless entity, eliminating all aspects of omnipotence and omnipresence that he briefly held within the Infinite. As the light molded Valistiel into a human form like that of his brother Kavdriel, the darkness that was burned by the light solidified his angelic form.
Faceless, colorless, he was given no distinct features except for his shell of a body. His wings ethereal, but due to his means of creation, he can hide and reveal his wings at any moment since he had remarkable control over his ethereal energies unlike any other of his kind. When his transformation was completed, his final form was encapsulated energy held within his human- like body. For those who would stand before him, he was the largest of all his brethren standing at a height of over five average sized humans.
Even though his physical characteristics alone would amaze and be a wonder to all that see him, there is one aspect of him that none other in the Infinite could ever truly understand, or witness themselves. Before that moment when he became a physical being, he was able to see all things in the Infinite along with the realms beyond their own. Every creation, every instance of life, undead, and automaton. From this, he learned that he and his brother were not the first, but like two grains of sand in the desert of time and creation. They were not the last but like children among ancient beings far older than them. Because of this knowledge, he was humbled.
However, when Valistiel took form, he forgot most of what he saw and knew; only remembering clearly every corner of the Infinite and the vision of a beast from a realm unknown. The rest that he had forgotten became more of a distorted distant memory. Even though he cannot remember, he reminds his siblings of what he felt and what may be out there.
However, that is in a time after this. Where we are now is where he began, and that is where we for now shall stay.
It is said that he was given a mace forged from the very light that surrounded his brother during his birth. He held it in hand as he found his bearings finally seeing Kavdriel for the first time. Their glances locked, the birth of the second archangel was over. Kavdriel looked up to his young brother, who towered over him.
"Brother…" said he, the first archangel. Valistiel did not speak.
"Brother…" echoed a disembodied voice which Kavdriel knew must have been Valistiel's.
Moments upon moments passed, the two learning of their supernatural abilities and about each other. These moments none except they know what truly happened. None know exactly what they can do, only what they allow for lesser beings to see. However, as we know, Valistiel once being formless gave him the power to detect disturbances within the Infinite. That ability was used when he had a vision. In that vision, he saw a face of torn flesh, eyeless, dreadful. Its head was that of a man, a body made of corpses. The creature, big like that of a mountain, invaded the mind of Valistiel.
"Something wrong brother?" asks Kavdriel.
"The Beast...he draws near to our home. Through a torn veil he shall come in attempt to claim our birthplace." he responds.
"Then we shall stand and fight dear brother."
That is what they would come to do. More and more the visions of the Beast came to Valistiel. At first they were like glances, but now they become more vivid, real. It was not until the final vision came to him. The Beast let out a roar that only the archangel Valistiel could hear. The roar was mighty, demented, almost like a blood-curdling shriek. Although he could only hear this, the sound made by this horrifying creature made the vast space of the Infinite tremble. The trembling ceased. Both brothers knew that the creature from beyond was on his way. They took up arms. With blade and mace in hand, they readied themselves for the inevitable.
The tremors began once again. Like echoes, they rang through each corner of the universe before a shadowed mist began to form not far in front of them. The mist, darker than the void of space began to tear apart. Large decaying hands pulled the cosmic veil apart revealing the Beast. He peered out into the Infinite, pulling himself into their home. The brothers wasted no time, attacking the invader before his body entered their home completely. Their first attempt of attack failed with the wave of the intruders giant hand they were flung aside. They did not let this moment of failure consume them. Over and over they tried to attack head-on only to be smacked away each time. Time was running out as they could see the body of the giant being making its way further into their side of the veil.
At this point one may feel that all hope would be lost. How would they overcome such a challenge? It was Valistiel that gave hope when he lifted his mace using the ethereal energies inside him to create a light bright enough to blind their foe long enough for Kavdriel to hit the fatal blow with his powerful blade, forever ending the terror brought by this creature. They celebrated their first victory for only a short moment as they watched the corpse of the creature fall back into wherever realm it came from. The veil became the mist, then the mist became a light that soon became something more...
