The team and I were sitting in Akoni's living room, talking about the upcoming games. He had made the team, but he didn't know that yet. He was really chill and calm. It was refreshing. Most of the people on the team are really hardcore, and wouldn't let his non-team into his house. I haven't seen the short one yet, so he must still be at work. it's not uncommon for high school students to work, but I thought that his brother would work too. Akoni said that he works during the summer, and his brother works all-year-round. We've been talking about school and football for the past hour and a half. Out of nowhere, the door is thrown open, and a faint 'I'm home' comes from the hallway. Akoni lights up, and that smell fills my senses again. Retaco appears in the doorway and glances at us. He blocks us out and waddles over to my couch. He lays on me. well, on my lap, but me. Out of instinct, my hand goes to his hair, raking my fingers through his fluffy black hair. It's actually pretty long, and I could probably make a small braid.
I hear a low growl, and look up, pulling my hand from his hair. My eyes meet his brothers glowing one, and I surrender. I have no reason to fight or challenge him. Xallaren was rightfully his until he finds a mate or different pack. Or a pack. He smells like a rouge, but it could just be a cover. Akoni marches over, gently tugging his brother from my lap. he sits him up, sitting in-between us. I don't mind. Yeah, I do, his brother has a terrible stench. Not really, I'm just angry that I can't smell Xallaren anymore. His brother still has a glare, but it's softened tremendously. Xallaren is resting on his shoulder, looking really f***ing adorable. Wow. That was a gay thought. Let's just brush that off, yeah? Anyway, Akoni had an arm wrapped around his little brother protectively. It was cute. At school, all they did was hit each other, and now they're cuddling. Talk about a 180.
Everyone was staring at us; smiling or smirking at how I touched his hair, or how easily I backed off. I usually fight when someone growls at me, but for some reason, I don't think I would've won that fight. I'm stronger and bigger than Akoni, but he's known Xallaren longer, so he would fight for him harder, and since they're brothers, he would have more to lose. I only think that we're cymars. Think. He knows who Xallaren is, and all about him. I barely know his name. I like it though. Xallaren King. Sounds nice. Wait, no. Xallaren whatever is good enough, he does not get my last name. Not in a hundred years. Not even in a thousand. It's sacred, he doesn't even know that's my last name. The football team has gone back to asking Akoni questions, and he's answered most of them. except for the ones about his family. Jace accidentally shouts, making Xallaren stir. He starts to rub his eyes, whining and growling about how early it is.
His eyes are so pretty. Why didn't I remember this more vividly? They're so pretty, I think I'm gonna cry. I love them so much. Ones a purple-blue colour, while the other is a bright green, what looks to be gold specks all throughout his eyes, making them shine brighter. His eyes are really big, too. I love it. He looks like a deer, staring at you, and running at any sudden movement. he's so cute.
"Hey, bubby, what are they here?" His voice is a bit deeper than earlier, but it's still squeaky and high-pitched. How adorable.
"Just wanted to talk to me, nothing for you to worry about," His brother had removed his arm before Xallaren had woken up, now about two feet away from the kid.
"Good, I thought you were having some troubles. Thought I was going to have to beat someone up for you!" He was obviously joking, and even giggled at the end, his brother just smiling and shaking his head.
"You must be tired. You've had a long day, and you should get some rest for tomorrow," Akoni was obviously trying to get Xae to bed, hinting multiple times that he wanted him to go upstairs.
"Alright, bubby," Xae gives us one more sleepy smile, before pulling himself off of the couch, going up the stairs to his, probably, room.
We all hear multiple doors open, water starting to run, shutting off ten minutes later, and a sink. Most likely brushed his teeth and took a shower.
"Bubby, huh?" The guys have decided Akoni's nickname for the year, and he doesn't seem to mind it at all.
"He's my baby brother, I'm just happy he's finally home and okay," He smiles and shakes his head at the guys, defending himself, the nickname, and his brother.
"HEy, how about we sleep at mine?" Jaoffersfer to all of us, looking at bubby directly to tell him he's invited.
"Sure, just let me get some stuff." As weird as it may seem, the football team does this very often. We call them late nights because we stay up till two in the morning talking and messing around. We usually always do it with new recruits, before and after initiation.
Bubby has disappeared up the stairs to get his stuff, and we're all sitting and waiting. The front door slams open, and a drunk man stumbles into the house.
"Who are you?" He slurs, appearing angry. He's really drunk and obviously needs to lay down.
"We're Akoni's friends, just grabbing him to take him out," The man's facial expression softens, and he smiles a bit.
"Oh, that angel? It's good he's made friends. At least you're not taking that whore Xallaren. He needs to learn to keep his legs closed." I think we're all more than shocked that he called him that. From what we've seen, he's the angel and a complete saint. thankfully, we're saved from any more awkward, bubby walking down the stairs with a duffel bag.
"Oh, hey dad, I sent Xal to bed, he should wake up at around 7 to go to school in the morning, alright?" Akoni smiles at the man, who smiles right back, and nods. I really don't feel comfortable leaving Xae with this dude. He seems like bad news. I shove the feeling to the bottom of my stomach, hoping Xae will be alright. We all make our way to the door, looking at the man one last time before shutting the door softly behind us. God, please let Xae be alright. he's too sweet and pure to be hurt. Amen.
