It's been a few hours, and I'm resting in my room. When I got home, Dad immediately saw my cuts. He took me to Aunt Nat, who was well-versed in stitching herself up after battles. She cleaned the dried blood from underneath my nose, which had since stopped bleeding.
I winced slightly as she cleaned the cut on my cheekbone with an antiseptic wipe, and then as she washed it out with a little bit of betadine over the sink. After wiping the betadine away with another antiseptic wipe, she decided that I should let it breathe and sent me to my room.
My room smells like curry. As I sit in my bed eating my dinner, I'm definitely not complaining. Dad came to my room about ten minutes ago and gave me a bowl of Japanese curry, homemade from our 'neighbours' across the street.
Akamine-san, the lovely old lady who owns the Japanese restaurant, would always give me curry whenever I visited the store. I would often go there as a young child when everyone was too busy to hang out with me, and I still go there when I'm feeling lonely.
So now my room smells like her homemade curry. It makes me feel relaxed, and I can forget the day's occurrences while I'm eating. I hear a mewling from the other side of the room, and I look up to see Venus having jumped up on my bed. I smile and eat my last bite of curry, and before I've even placed my bowl aside she jumps into my lap.
It seems that she knows my day has been crap because she simply curls up and allows me to pet her. Normally she would try to play with my fingers or clothes, being a kitten and all, but she isn't doing that. I feel a weight on the mattress around my feet, and Saturn begins to lazily walk towards me. He lays down against my right side, doing nothing but pressing his back on me. It makes me feel good, that those who can't speak are more comforting than those who can.
A knock sounds, and it definitely comes from my window. I look up quickly, and scowl slightly when I see a certain Spider-Boy clinging window and waving slightly. I reluctantly move Venus to the side, having every plan to place her back in my lap when I return to my bed. He climbs in after I unlatch the window, and drops to the floor when I sit on my bed with Venus back in my lap.
We stare at each other for what feels like an eternity. At least, I think he's staring at me: I can't see his eyes so I can't tell if we're making eye contact. He doesn't seem to have the courage to say something, so I say it for him.
"Thanks for saving me earlier, I guess."
"Yo-you're welcome." His voice sounds slightly sheepish, and I can tell that he's blushing.
"What are you doing here, though?"
"I...I wanted to ask you something."
"Well ask away, Spider-Boy. I ain't going anywhere."
"Um...I...I was wondering if you maybe wanted to be my girlfriend?"
I stare at him. He's not serious, is he? I feel laughter well up inside me and I can't stop it from overflowing. I laugh for a good thirty seconds and then start to try and get words out.
"You can't be serious! I don't even know who the fuck you are! And you’re expecting me to date you! You wear a mask everywhere!"
At that statement, he seems to remember something. "Oh, I forgot something." He reaches up and pulls his mask off. My laughter cuts immediately and is replaced by the blushing of my cheeks. "Would...would you like to be my girlfriend?"
At first, I'm speechless. The dorky kid who I have a crush on turns out to be the guy who saved a bunch of people from a collapsing lift in the Washington Monument. The kid who is literally wearing millions of Stark Tech that Papa entrusted him with.
"Yes." I say this before I have time to think. I know that if I think, I'm eventually going to say no, and that would be a bad idea. As much as I hate to admit it, he helped me today when I couldn't help myself. And when my parents or the other Avengers aren't around him, I might need him. And I can already tell that he'll be better than Charlie.
"Wait, really?"
"Yes. Did you think I was going to say no? I like you, Peter. Like, a lot. I was kinda jealous of you and Liz when you took her to that dance a few months ago."
"I wanted to ask you, but I thought you'd say no. And then you went with Kai." He sits on the bed beside me, and Saturn slowly crawls over and rests in his lap.
"I only went with him because I was tired of saying no to people. And I'm now realising that that was probably a bad idea. Especially since he thinks I'm his girlfriend."
"Well you're not. You're mine."
"And I can use that against him now."

We don't even realise, but we talk for hours. He's so easy to chat with, and I honestly don't even know why I would've said no to such a sweet human being. A knock on the door sounds, and we quickly check the time. It's 11:27. I should definitely be asleep.
"Blythe!" Papa calls. "I can see your light still on! You need to go to bed! And who have you been talking to?"
Peter quickly runs to the window and climbs out. I follow him to the window, yelling a quick "No one, Papa!" to the man at the door. Peter hasn't pulled on his mask yet, and I want to catch him before he goes.
"Hey, thanks for tonight. I didn't realise how much I needed it." I surprise him with a kiss, and after a few seconds of shock he leans into it. He does, however, break off and swing away when Papa calls for me.
I run to the door to open it, and Papa is leaning against the door frame with a slightly annoyed look on his face. "Sorry Papa, I lost track of time. I'll go to sleep now."
He spots the open window. "Why's your window open? You know it shouldn't be open at this hour."
Shit. I forgot to close it. "No reason. I was just looking out at the stars."
He doesn't look like he believes me, but lets it go. He leans forward and gives me a kiss on the forehead. "I love you Blythe. Don't forget that."
"I won't. Night, Papa." I close the door and flop onto my bed. The action scares both Saturn and Venus, who I almost forgot where there. I apologise to my fur babies as I climb into bed and curl up. The pair of them curl up in the crescent shape I've created between my head and my knees.
I feel content.
