(A/N: Convo between Blythe and Nat at the end of the chapter will be translated at the end. I understand that google translate doesn’t always translate properly so it’s what I really want to say)
“OK, so I’ll call them up, tell them that I’m no longer on their side and that I want to fight them to prove myself. And then I tell them where I want to meet. Why are we meeting in a huge field again?”
“Collateral damage.”
Of all people, Dylan is the last person I’d expect to say that. We’ve been planning our attack, and like I guessed they wanted me to say I was on their side.
“But you guys are villains. Why do you care about collateral damage?”
“We’re evil maniacs, not heartless monsters. We don’t want to kill anyone if it’s not necessary.”
“Of all people, you’re the one I least expected to care about people, Dylan.”
“Yeah, that makes sense. But that’s why we’re meeting in the field. It’s unnamed so it’s probably easier for you to tell them to track you. I’m sure your dad has a tracking device in your suit.”
“Actually, it’s my Papa who made my suit. And no, not really. He can’t track me unless I let F.R.I.D.A.Y. let him.”
“OK, then do that.”
“I will.”
“You’re a real bitch, you know that?”
“You know I try, right?”
I’m sure we would have kept going, but we’re interrupted by Mr Warner. “Now, now, I can’t have a fight on my hands between two of the people who work for me.”
“I don’t work for you,” I spit at him. “I don’t even work with you. I’m just here because of Kai.”
“Fine then. But I do not need you two fighting. Call your parents Blythe. Tell them the plan. I wish to hear it.”
I glare at him but go along with it, knowing this is the only option. My helmet covers my head and I begin talking to F.R.I.D.A.Y., knowing full well that the Warners can hear me.
“F.R.I.D.A.Y., please call Dad and put it on speaker.”
“Certainly, Blythe.”
While the call is connecting, I take my helmet off and place it on the table in front of me. Dad answers, knowing the plan.
“Blythe? What happened? Where are you? What are they doing to you?”
“Nothing’s wrong, Dad. What makes you say that? And no, I didn’t get kidnapped. I decided that I was sick of you and the other Avengers. And I was sick of Peter. So I decided to move to Kai’s side.”
Peter speaks up, and I internally curse. I forgot to tell him, and Dad and Papa probably thought that I already told him.
“Blythe? What are you talking about? What do you mean by joining Kai?”
God, this is gonna be painful. “Well, Peter, I got sick of you. I realised that I’ve liked Kai for a couple years and never liked you. And I thought: ‘If you can’t beat them, join them’. So I did.”
Dad interrupts, not realising Peter has no idea what’s happening.
“And how are you wanting to settle this?”
“The old fashioned way. A fight. Prove who’s better. I’ll get F.R.I.D.A.Y. to send the coordinates.”
I hear rustling and then Aunt Nat begins to speak. I hope to god that the Warners don’t speak Russian.
“Блит, что ты делаешь? Они совершенно не правы. Они убили так много людей.”
“Ты должен доверять мне. Я знаю, что я делаю."
“Хорошо, я доверяю тебе. Просто пообещай мне, что не сделаешь ничего, о чем сожалеешь.”
“Поверьте мне, у меня уже было это. Но это было необходимо. Пожалуйста, дайте Питеру понять, что я не имел в виду то, что сказал, и что я все еще люблю его.”
We hang up, and I turn to the others.
“It’s all good. I’ll get F.R.I.D.A.Y. to send the coordinates to Papa. Let’s do this.”
(Translation -
Natasha: “Blythe, what are you doing? They are completely in the wrong. They’ve killed so many people.”
Blythe: “You have to trust me. I know what I’m doing.”
Natasha: “OK, I trust you. Just promise me you won’t do anything you’ll regret.”
Blythe: “Believe me, I had to do this. But it was necessary. And please tell Peter that I didn’t mean what I said. I still love him.”)
