The two boys ended up falling onto the bed after Lennon won 8 games. Jake had yet to win one.
“Hah, beat you again! That was fun,” Lennon said looking at Jake. Jake ended up staring at Lennon’s eyes. They were a piercing blue, so peculiar since he had black hair. Jake on the other hand was blond with brown eyes. He was quite plain.
“Hey, Jake? You there? You look zoned out.” Lennon said, sounding concerned.
“Yeah I’m fine. I was just thinking about the coming of age ceremony. We’re almost 100 years old.”
“Oh yeah. Our birthdays in a couple days. The ceremony will happen before that. What shall we do? I wonder what we have to do. No one will tell us. I've begged my mom to say but she won’t.” Lennon whined.
“Yeah, my parents won’t say anything either.” Jake said, obviously trying to out whine Lennon.
“Dude, chill. We are almost of age. We can’t be sounding like babies.” Lennon scolded Jake. But Jake wasn’t hurt. He could see the teasing tone behind the strict words.
“Will we be different after the ceremony?” Lennon wondered. Lennon was a bit put off. No one would talk about the ceremony. They all sounded nervous when asked about it. Lennon didn’t understand what the big deal was. It was just a ceremony. Why couldn’t he know about what was going to happen. He wanted to be prepared, but he didn't even know what was going to happen.
“Lennon, chill. You’re so tense. It looks like you are going to burn a hole in the ceiling with your gaze.” Jake said, worrying like crazy.
“Dude, look at you!” Lennon exclaimed, “You’re going to get wrinkle lines from all your frowning!”
