Dear friend,
It’s been a tad over a week since David was discharged from the hospital. On day two, the doctors deemed it was of no use to keep him anymore. Of course, they did tell me to watch over him—as they told David to take it easy for a while—but other than that, he was considered good as new!
When we came back home, David offered for us to have a movie night. It reminded me of the moment before we entered the restaurant, when he seemed a little off. This time, however, I did not hesitate. “David,” I said, as I brushed his bare arm with my knuckles. “It’s okay, we don’t have to.”
There was a glimmer of guilt in his eyes. He sighed. He said, “But I’ve been here for over ten days now, and we’ve barely done anything together…”
I stepped forward and slid my arms around his waist. “David,” I said it again. “I don’t care about doing things together. I just… want to be with you. Don’t you?”
He left a kiss against my head. “I do…” he whispered. “I just…”
“You just?”
“I thought you’d want us to do couple things together… or else you’d get bored of me.” He quickly covered up his statement with a laugh that sounded more forced than natural. “S-sorry, I don’t know what I’m saying anymore…” David he tried to pull away. He turned his back on me and started to head for the bedroom. “I must be tired, I don’t really—” But I reached out and grabbed his arm, and I pressed my lips to his.
It’s like the urge from that other day had returned at full force. It led to me pinning David against the wall. And to my relief, he relaxed beneath my touch as my tongue slipped past his teeth.
His hips bucked forward. He moaned into my mouth. “Alex,” he panted. I pulled away. I observed his face. It was flushed a darker shade of pink.
“Alex, what are you—”
I did it again.
I don’t know why, but in this moment, it annoyed me that a bunch of random people at the hospital had spent more time with David for two days straight, whilst I could only see him for a very specific set amount of hours—granted, they helped him, though… still, I wish I could have been there by his side, for everything, forever.
Perhaps, this was my way of showing him my forever, for time stopped every time we kissed.
The world outside was alive, yet, here, in my apartment’s living room, there was nothing but us, and not even the ticking of a clock could rip that away.
When it was over—when we were both done fighting each other’s lips—David and I slid to the floor, onto our knees. My jaw was hurting. I was breathless, in a good way that made me feel warm, and here, grounded in the present.
I hoped David shared the sentiment, even if only by a little.
“Let’s go to bed,” he mumbled, as he rose to his feet and held out a hand for me to take.
I nodded and stood in turn, ever so silent, as I grabbed his palm between mine.
It’s hard to explain what exactly changed that night, but without a doubt, I’m sure something did.
As for the restaurant… I’m unsure what we are going to do about it yet. David says we shouldn’t bother, and that it will probably be hard for him to win against them without a lot of money anyway. I don’t mind paying for his lawyer, if that’s what he means, yet… he doesn’t seem set on that either, so I suppose I’ll have to see where things go…
If it were me though, friend, I would want to see their establishment shut down and demolished.
If they weren’t even capable of being careful when preparing their meals, I don’t want to begin imagining how many others could go through the same thing David did. People will die if they are not stopped. I am sure of it. And it pains me.
My wrist is cramping up, so, that is it for now.
Thank you for being here, friend.
Yours,
Alexander
