February Saturday 15th our friends son’s school had an open day, were parents are invited to watch their children have classes during the day. The kids hate it because it’s an extra school day but it gives the parents the chance to see how the teachers interact with the students etc. We go to irritated our friends son, he’s 9 and adorable. Ra has a YouTube channel with 17 subscribers (mostly family) and every time she’s been overseas she uses her channel to let family at home know what she is doing and how she is going. Our friends son was so excited that Ra is a YouTuber he had Ra film him and his friends at school for Youtube. It’s so funny. (I’ll add the link below maybe).
February Sunday 16th we go to Team Labs a light show that is mind blowing. We joke about the virus in the crowded line but we all have our face masks on and we are all well. We had a great time, then went out for lunch after.
February Monday 17th we went to the Kirby Cafe. Interesting story here - Ra’s best friend heard we were going to Japan and so she and her boyfriend also booked a holiday to Japan. She also booked us in to the Kirby Cafe months before we left. So we all met up and had lunch - it was wonderful.
February Tuesday 18th. Our flight is at 10am and with our last 7000 yen, it’s enough to cover the cost of the taxi to Hanada airport. We wear our face masks and don’t feel out of place. Getting onto the plane every one wipes down their space, I’m felling relieved I’m not the only one to think there are risk to our health while flying.
We arrive in Singapore (we’re going the long way home because - cheap flights) and everyone is temperature checked. Jokingly hubby pre warmed me not to have any hot flushes while walking through the heat checks (I’m perimenapausal - it sucks). The airport is quiet apparently - it’s my first time there, Ra's second - she tells me it’s not busy at all. Now I’m seriously concerned about the virus and I’m scrutinising everyone I past. When we get to our connecting flight - Ra and I are only a handful of people wearing masks. On the plane Ra and I are the only ones to clean down our space. By now it’s 8pm and we are exhausted. As soon as the plane is in the air, still wearing our masks, we put our eyes masks on, earplugs in - I’m in the isle seat, Ra in the middle - I turn and curl up towards the isle, Ra raises the arm rest and preceded to spoon me. Our seats are slightly lowered as to not upset the people behind us. We slept the entire flight home. No meals. No toilet.
February Wednesday 19th. Upon arriving to Melbourne, no temperature checks - they do ask us if we’ve been to China in the last 14 days - we haven’t, and we're out. We make our way to our connecting flight to Adelaide and we are almost home.
Arrive in Adelaide, hubby picks us up, and we go home. It’s good to be home.
